Following a well-attended \u201cSponsors Day\u201d pre match reception in the clubhouse Ballyclare returned to Qualifying League 1 action at the Cloughan. The match was sponsored by Country Estates, with match ball sponsored by Jonny Whites.
\nThe home side took an early lead following Ballymoney infringements. Robert Smith slotted two early penalties for Clare to go 6-0 up. The Cloughan Men sustained a period of Ballymoney pressure, however they never threatened the red zone. Ballymoney had a chance to pull three points back when Ballyclare were adjudged off side. The penalty attempt was missed. Ballyclare progressed deep into Ballymoney territory and following a couple of scrums on the Ballymoney line, from a ruck, Al Boyd added to his scoring streak when he crossed the line to score Ballyclare\u2019s first try. Robert Smith added the conversion. A further penalty by Smith kept the score board increasing in Ballyclare\u2019s favour. Ballymoney again went on the attack, but the Clare defence wasn\u2019t breached.
