{"id":73979,"date":"2014-10-07T21:04:03","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T20:04:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=73979"},"modified":"2014-10-07T21:08:54","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T20:08:54","slug":"alpha-night-ballyclare-rugby-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/alpha-night-ballyclare-rugby-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Alpha Night at Ballyclare Rugby Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ten contestants from all sections of BRFC and a representative from Templepatrick Cricket Club pitted their skills against each other on Saturday 4th October to discover the true Alpha of BRFC.<\/p>\n<p>They went head to head in 5 events-<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nutrition<\/strong> &#8230;&#8230; Quickest to eat 1 dry Weetabix, 1 very hardboiled egg (eaten with or without the shell on) and a jar of crab paste- only 6 contestants managed to finish this<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical fitness<\/strong>&#8230;&#8230; Most burpees in 30 secs                  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/alpha.jpg\" alt=\"alpha\" width=\"222\" height=\"125\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-73981\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hydration<\/strong> &#8230;&#8230; Quickest to drink 440ml of warm beer, 70ml of buckfast and an alcohol pop through a straw (party shooter style not permitted)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hunter\/gatherer<\/strong> &#8230;&#8230; Contestants to collect 4 specific items from the audience<\/p>\n<p><strong>IQ<\/strong> &#8230;&#8230; 10 general knowledge questions<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contestants:                           Finishing Position:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taylor Kirk (social member rep)                 1<\/p>\n<p>Bobby Smith (TCC rep)                           2<\/p>\n<p>Bob Beckwith (mini rep)                         3<\/p>\n<p>Steph Dowds (women\u2019s rugby rep)                 4<\/p>\n<p>Jordan McKinstry (Hare\u2019s rep)                   4<\/p>\n<p>Colin Warren (youth rep)                        6<\/p>\n<p>Rachael Beattie (women\u2019s rep)                   7<\/p>\n<p>David Clarke (senior rep)                       7<\/p>\n<p>James Greer (senior rep)                        9<\/p>\n<p>Pete Kirk (general committee rep)               10<\/p>\n<p>The eventual winner and retaining his title at the end of the night was Taylor Kirk.<\/p>\n<p>Pete Kirk, club chairman, didn\u2019t go home empty handed- \u201cthis was a great nights craic that brought all the different sections of the club together to socialise and have a bit of banter!  This was the first year that the Hare\u2019s and the women\u2019s team have been represented and they fully embraced this event.
