{"id":673864,"date":"2022-12-22T15:11:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T15:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=673864"},"modified":"2022-12-22T15:11:21","modified_gmt":"2022-12-22T15:11:21","slug":"danske-bank-ulster-schools-round-up-saturday-24-th-december-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/danske-bank-ulster-schools-round-up-saturday-24-th-december-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Round Up Saturday 24 th December 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Round Up Saturday 24 th December 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Monday 19 th December three of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Group Stage Cup<br \/>\npreviously postponed fixtures, as well as two previously postponed Danske Bank Ulster<br \/>\nSchools\u2019 2ndxv Cup Round 3 games and one Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 3rdxv Cup<br \/>\nmatch, took place.<br \/>\nDromore High School and Larne Grammar School met in their Group B previously<br \/>\npostponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup game.<br \/>\nThe Dromore High School team finished the game as 41-0 winners and their bonus point<br \/>\nwin ensures that the Dromore High School team finishes as Danske Bank Ulster<br \/>\nSchools\u2019 Cup Group B winners.<br \/>\nLevi Naga and Matthew Heasley both scored a brace of tries for the Dromore High<br \/>\nSchool team with Ethan Dickson, Sam McIlroy and Ethan Mount each touching down for<br \/>\none try. Ethan Mount added two conversions while Nathan Hook was successful with<br \/>\none.<br \/>\nThe Larne Grammar School team displayed great commitment throughout the game.<br \/>\nPlayers such as Ethan Anderson, Ethan Duncan, Jonathan Dallas and Jack Hill all<br \/>\nimpressed with their performances.<br \/>\nIn the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup Round of 16 competition the Dromore High<br \/>\nSchool team will host Down High School on\/before Saturday 28 th January 2023.<br \/>\nEnniskillen Royal Grammar School hosted Grosvenor Grammar School and recorded a<br \/>\nwell-deserved 52-12 victory. This victory ensures that the Enniskillen Royal Grammar<br \/>\nSchool team will now host the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team in the Danske<br \/>\nBank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup Round of 16 tie on\/before Saturday 28 th January 2023.<br \/>\nThe Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team scored eight tries during this game. Harry<br \/>\nKerr, Aaron Seaman, Darragh Love, Karl Bothwell, Ben McLaren, Alex Hetherington,<br \/>\nClarke Balfour and James Trotter each scored one try. Tadhg Hambly was successful<br \/>\nwith six of his conversion kicks.<br \/>\nThe Grosvenor Grammar School team provided spirited opposition for the Enniskillen<br \/>\nRoyal Grammar School team. They got some reward for their hard work with an<br \/>\nunconverted try from Adam Lowey early in the game and a try through Charles<br \/>\nCampbell, which was converted by Ross Millar, with almost the final play of the game.<br \/>\nConor Allen was another Grosvenor Grammar School player who impressed with his<br \/>\nperformance throughout the game.<br \/>\nOn the same afternoon Portadown College hosted Royal School, Dungannon in their<br \/>\npreviously postponed Group D Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup game.<br \/>\nThe Royal School, Dungannon team recorded a 43-5 victory in this game.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal School, Dungannon team controlled both territory and possession for large<br \/>\nparts of the game. They had built up a 24-5 lead by the break with tries from Jacob<br \/>\nClarke, John Carrol, who touched down twice, and Reuben Gibson. Jacob Clarke was<br \/>\nsuccessful with two of his first half conversion kicks.<br \/>\nThe Portadown College team got some reward for their endeavours in the first half of<br \/>\nthe game when Sam Ward touched down for an unconverted try.<br \/>\nIt was more of the same for the Royal School, Dungannon team in the second half. John<br \/>\nCarroll completed his hat trick of tries with Cameron Cummings and Ben Doyle each<br \/>\nrunning in for one try. Two further successful conversions from Jacob Clarke secured<br \/>\nthe 43-5 victory for the Royal School, Dungannon team.<br \/>\nThat result ensured that the Royal School, Dungannon team finished top of the Danske<br \/>\nBank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup Group D. Royal School, Dungannon will now host Ballyclare High<br \/>\nSchool in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup Round of 16 competition in a game to be<br \/>\nplayed on\/before Saturday 28 th January 2023.<br \/>\nIn the 3 rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup Friends\u2019 School, Lisburn<br \/>\nhosted Sullivan Upper School in a game the Sullivan Upper School team won by 43-5.<br \/>\nIn the same competition Wallace High School travelled to play Omagh Academy and<br \/>\nreturned home with a 41-10 victory to their credit.<br \/>\nIn the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 3rdxv Cup Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv hosted<br \/>\nCampbell College, Belfast 3rdxv in the 2 nd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019<br \/>\n3rdxv Cup. The final outcome of the game was a 40-0 win for the Campbell College,<br \/>\nBelfast 3rdxv team<br \/>\nLater that evening two Foyle and Londonderry College teams played against the Ulster<br \/>\nU17 and Ulster U18 Clubs\u2019 teams at the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt.<br \/>\nThe Foyle College U16 team played against the Ulster Clubs\u2019 U17 team in a closely<br \/>\ncontested game. Despite building up a 14-12 lead by the break the Foyle College team<br \/>\nsaw the Ulster Clubs\u2019 U17 team put in an impressive 2 nd half performance and eventually<br \/>\nrun out as 19-14 winners.<br \/>\nAdam Woods and Ryan Anthony scored the Foyle College U16 team tries with Thomas<br \/>\nWilliamson adding the extras to both.<br \/>\nThe Ulster U17 Clubs\u2019 team scored their points through tries from Fiontan Bradley,<br \/>\nLachlan Maguire and Dan Macabhaird. Darcy Clarke was successful with two of his<br \/>\nconversion kicks.<br \/>\nThe Foyle and Londonderry College 1stxv team put in an impressive performance against<br \/>\nthe Ulster Clubs\u2019 U18 team and won the game by 14-0. James McKillop and Robbie<br \/>\nPatterson scored one try apiece with Adam Killeen adding the conversions to both tries.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of their warm weather training camp in Portugal, the Methodist College,<br \/>\nBelfast team played the Portugal Rugby Football Union National U20 team.<br \/>\nThe Portugal U20 team won the entertaining game by 34-17. The Methodist College,<br \/>\nBelfast points came through tries from Lewis Doherty, Ryan Kidd and Oliver Neill.<br \/>\nDavid Armstrong was successful with one of the conversion kicks.<br \/>\nOn Tuesday 20 th December Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv played Belfast<br \/>\nRoyal Academy 2ndxv in their previously postponed 3 rd Round game in the Danske Bank<br \/>\nUlster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup.<br \/>\nThe Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv team won the game, superbly refereed<br \/>\nby Chris Busby, by 47-19.<br \/>\nOn Wednesday 21 st December Lurgan College hosted Limavady Grammar School in their<br \/>\nfinal previously postponed Group A Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Group game.<br \/>\nThe game, which was played in front of a good crowd of enthusiastic supporters, was<br \/>\nwon by the Limavady Grammar School with a score line of 32-7.<br \/>\nThe Lurgan College points were scored through a Peter Bird try which was converted by<br \/>\nDaniel Parker.<br \/>\nThe Limavady Grammar School team scored five tries during the game. Matthew<br \/>\nArmstrong scored two tries as did Ben Nutt. Joe Caldwell dotted down for the fifth<br \/>\nLimavady Grammar School try. Benjamin Howe weighed in with two successful<br \/>\nconversions as well as a penalty goal.<br \/>\nThis bonus point victory ensures that Limavady Grammar School have secured top spot<br \/>\nin the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup Group A. As winners of Group A the Limavady<br \/>\nGrammar School team will now travel to play Coleraine Grammar School in the Danske<br \/>\nBank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup Round of 16 game on\/before Saturday 28 th January 2023.<br \/>\nDanske Bank Schools&amp;#39; Cup Round of 16<br \/>\nBallymena Academy\u00a0v\u00a0Campbell College, Belfast<br \/>\nDromore High School v\u00a0Down High School<br \/>\nRoyal School, Dungannon v\u00a0Ballyclare High School<br \/>\nColeraine Grammar School\u00a0v Limavady Grammar School<br \/>\nSullivan Upper School\u00a0v\u00a0Royal School, Armagh<br \/>\nBelfast Royal Academy\u00a0v\u00a0Methodist College, Belfast<br \/>\nWallace High School\u00a0v Best Group Stage Runner Up<br \/>\nEnniskillen Royal Grammar School v\u00a0Royal Belfast Academical Institution<\/p>\n<p>All fixtures must be played on or before Sat 28th January 2023.<br \/>\nOn the same day Ballymena Academy 2ndxv played Royal School, Armagh 2ndxv in their<br \/>\npreviously postponed 3 rd Round game in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup.<br \/>\nThe young Ballymena Academy 2ndxv team defeated the more experienced Royal<br \/>\nSchool, Armagh 2ndxv team by 24-14.<br \/>\nOn Thursday 22 nd December Wallace High School played Sullivan Upper School in a<br \/>\ngame where both teams used extended squads.<br \/>\nThis game, which the Sullivan Upper School team won by 12-0, proved to be a very<br \/>\nuseful exercise in giving all the players involved positive game time.<br \/>\nNathan Noble scored a try for the Sullivan Upper School team, which was converted by<br \/>\nHarry McKeown.
