\n350g white chocolate
\n50g of Lizi\u2019s Original Granola
\n30 Sugar eyes for decoration
\nRaisins to decorate<\/p>\n

METHOD TO MAKE 15 GHOSTS<\/strong>
\n1. Using some non-stick baking paper, draw ghost shapes on the back
\n2. Break up the white chocolate into chunks and place in a heatproof bowl.
\n3. With the hob on a medium heat, place the heatproof bowl over a pan of barely simmering water. Be careful that the water doesn\u2019t boil and avoid over stirring.
\n4. As the chocolate starts to melt, lift the bowl off the heat and stir the chocolate gently.
\n5. Leave the bowl of melted chocolate on a heatproof surface for the chocolate to cool a little to room temperature.
\n6. Lay the baking paper with the ghost drawings on to a large flat baking tray with the ghosts face down.
\n7. Using a teaspoon, spoon two teaspoons worth of the chocolate into the middle of the ghost shapes, using a clean teaspoon to nudge the chocolate to fill the ghost outline.
\n8. Repeat until all the ghosts are filled with the chocolate.
\n9. Returning to the first ghost, add another layer of chocolate on top in the same way with the teaspoons so that the ghosts are thicker.<\/p>\n

10. Put the 50g Lizi\u2019s Original Granola into a jam jar and with a clean teaspoon, sprinkle some of the granola across the bottom of the chocolate ghost. Start with the first ghost you made and continue until all the ghosts have a covering of granola.
\n11. Press on two of the sugar eyes and a raisin\/nut for a mouth into the chocolate to give the ghosts their spooky faces.
\n12. Carefully put the whole tray of ghosts into the fridge to set for at least 6 hours to overnight. Enjoy!<\/p>\n

Roasted Pumpkin on Sourdough<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 500g pumpkin, peeled and diced
\n\u2022 2 tbsp olive oil
\n\u2022 Pinch of chilli flakes
\n\u2022 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
\n\u2022 1 tbsp honey
\n\u2022 1 loaf of sourdough bread, sliced
\n\u2022 1 garlic clove, peeled
\n\u2022 100g Primula Cheese<\/p>\n

Method
\n1. Pre-heat the oven to 180\u00b0
\n2. Arrange the pumpkin in a large, shallow baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and scatter over chilli flakes. Add the chopped garlic cloves.
\n3. Roast for 25 \u2013 30 minutes, or until tender and lightly charred. Remove from the oven, add a tablespoon of honey and mix well to coat the pumpkin. Set aside.
\n4. Toast the sourdough until golden. Remove from the toaster and gently rub with the remaining garlic clove. Top with Primula Cheese
\n5. Serve immediately.
\nLoaded Pumpkin Fries<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 1 medium-sized pumpkin
\n\u2022 2 tsp cornflour
\n\u2022 2 tsp olive oil
\n\u2022 1 tbsp fajita seasoning
\n\u2022 150g Primula Cheese
\n\u2022 Handful of fresh coriander, to garnish
\nMethod
\n1. Using a sharp knife, slice the pumpkin in half. Scoop out the seeds and pulp.
\n2. Remove the ends from the pumpkin, peel and slice into fries.
\n3. Place the pumpkin fries in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Let the fries soak for at least 30 minutes, but preferably overnight.
\n4. When the fries have finished soaking, pre-heat your oven to 220\u00b0
\n5. Drain the fries and pat dry with paper towels.
\n6. Fill a large zip-lock bag with the fries. Add the cornflour, seal the bag and shake to cover the fries. Add the oil and fajita seasoning to the fries and shake well, covering them evenly.
\n7. Spread the fries in a single layer on a lined baking tray. Allow the fries plenty of space to ensure they\u2019re perfectly crisp. You may need a couple of trays.
\n8. Place in the oven for 10 \u2013 15 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the fries are crisp and golden.
\n9. Remove from the oven. Squeeze over the Primula Cheese and scatter the coriander.
\n10. Serve immediately.
\nPumpkin and Sweet Potato Rosti<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 600g mixed pumpkin and sweet potato, peeled and grated
\n\u2022 2 eggs, for binding
\n\u2022 Handful of flat leaf parsley, roughly chopped
\n\u2022 Salt and pepper, to taste
\n\u2022 Olive oil
\n\u2022 100g Primula Cheese
\n\u2022 1 spring onion, sliced
\n\u2022 Lime wedges, optional<\/p>\n

Method
\n1. Squeeze all of the water out of your grated pumpkin and sweet potato using an old tea-towel. Add the eggs and parsley. Season to taste then mix well.
\n2. Heat a frying pan over a medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Spoon a heaped tablespoon of the rosti mixture into the pan and cook for 2 minutes, until golden brown. Turn over and repeat.
\n3. Repeat until all of your mixture is gone.
\n4. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to remove any excess oil.
\n5. Plate the rosti and top with Primula Cheese \u2018n\u2019 Chives. Garnish with spring onion and lime wedges.
\n6. Serve immediately.<\/p>\n

Drayton Manor Resort has revealed its line-up of spine-tingling new experiences for Halloween \u2013 and there\u2019s not a ghost of a chance you\u2019ll want to miss out.<\/p>\n

Visitors to Odds Farm Park, near Beaconsfield, are in for a jolly gourd time this month at the farm\u2019s Carving Weekends (8th \u2013 9th and 15th \u2013 16th October) ahead of the annual Pumpkin Festival in half term (22nd \u2013 30th October).<\/p>\n

The 35 acre family leisure attraction has over 4,000 pumpkins waiting to be picked.<\/p>\n

Little ones can choose their own mini wheelbarrow before exploring the Oddlotment Pumpkin Patch to carefully select their own pumpkin to take home.<\/p>\n

The Carving Corner will be open for families keen to pimp up their pumpkin without having to take the mess home. And crafty visitors can also get stuck in at the autumn-themed arts and crafts area where there is plenty for younger guests to get creative with.<\/p>\n

In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III decided 1st November should be a time to honour all saints. The evening before All Saints Day was known as All Hallows\u2019 Eve, and later Halloween. All Hallows’ Eve, is a Christian religious observance that includes going to church and lighting candles on the graves of the dead. Traditionally Christians didn\u2019t eat meat on this day and Potato Pancakes were a popular choice of food.
\nOver time, Halloween became the more commercial and secular celebration we have today that includes trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, wearing costumes and eating treats.

\nWith Covid infection rates rising once again, we should be mindful that some adults, especially elderly people and those with underlying health conditions, may not be enthusiastic about children calling on them for Trick or Treat.<\/p>\n

Halloween, the spookiest time of the year, is almost upon us. Carving bizarre faces into pumpkins, dressing-up in creepy costumes and watching the scariest movies we can bear are just some of Halloween\u2019s most fun (?) traditions.<\/p>\n

But, why do we enjoy being scared, and why do we love watching scary movies?
\nOne of the first recognisable horror films was made 100 years ago, in 1922, it\u2019s a genre that has definitely stood the test of time.<\/p>\n

We asked Horror film boffin from the world famous MetFilm School, Pete Appleyard for his thoughts, he told us:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a pretty common question for horror fans, why do you like horror movies? Some people love to be scared, some love buckets of fake blood and the visceral thrill of the horror FX.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor others it\u2019s the fun of narratives that are not confined by the limitations of \u2018real life\u2019 and can go anywhere and do anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt its best (and often at its worst) horror is diverse genre that can be made anywhere by anyone. It can be romantic, tragic, hilarious or have you on the edge of your seat. As the late, great Wes Craven once said \u201cHorror films don\u2019t\u2019 create fear. They release it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps that\u2019s why we love them so much, it\u2019s a safe way of confronting our fears.\u201d
\nWith that in mind, we asked Pete to share his top 11 recommendations of the best spine-chilling Horror films from around the world to help us scare ourselves silly this Halloween.<\/p>\n

So, grab the snacks and remote (and a fluffy cushion to hide behind) and settle down for Pete\u2019s macabre movie marathon\u2026<\/p>\n

To start with, the one where it all began\u2026<\/p>\n

1. Nosferatu \u2013 1922
\nThis early, unofficial adaptation of Dracula by F.W Murnau still holds every bit of its gothic power 100 years after it was made. It\u2019s filled with iconic gothic imagery and features an amazing central performance by stage actor Max Schreck as the terrifying Count Orlock (who\u2019s name translates as Max Fear). It also works as a wonderful introduction to silent film for those new to early cinema.<\/p>\n

2. The Phantom of the Opera \u2013 1925
\nThis lavish production of Gaston Leroux\u2019s novel marked a few important firsts for the horror genre. It was Universal studios first full-blown horror film, a genre they would go on to define in the 30s. It was a huge break out role for actor Lon Chaney who played the role of the Phantom in terrifying and physically torturous make up. However, the films biggest legacy is probably its Paris opera house set which remained standing on the Universal lot until 2014 and appeared in 100s of films and TV shows.<\/p>\n

3. Dracula\u2013 1931
\nTod Browning\u2019s screen adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel feels rather slow and quint by today\u2019s standards but there is still a great deal of power to this slow burning gothic horror. Karl Freund\u2019s expressionistic cinematography create some of the most striking cinematic images from the 1930\u2019s and Bela Lugosi\u2019s performance as Dracula is beyond iconic. Coming just 9 months before Universal\u2019s Frankenstein, Dracula paved the way for Hollywood\u2019s golden era of monsters.<\/p>\n

4. Dead of Night \u2013 1945
\nOne of the few Horror films produced at Ealing Studios during its golden era, Dead of Night is one of the earliest examples of the Horror Anthology film. Essentially a collection of short films linked together by a wraparound story, the anthology format became a staple of British horror films through to the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s but rarely was it done as well as here. The scenes of Michael Redgrave being menaced by an evil ventriloquist dummy remain terrifying to this day.<\/p>\n

5. The Quatermass Xperiment \u2013 1955
\nWhilst Hammer films would go on to have huge success re-adapting the classic monsters of the 30\u2019s with their own Dracula, Frankenstein & Mummy franchises, It\u2019s this film version of the BBC sci-fi serial that marks the true beginning of \u2018Hammer Horror\u2019. The story of British astronauts returning to earth with an alien parasite was massively ahead of its time in the 50\u2019s and shocked audiences with its brooding atmosphere and sudden bursts of violence. Hammer wore its \u2018X\u2019 rating with pride by incorporating it into the title.<\/p>\n

6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre \u2013 1974
\n\u2018Who will survive and what will be left of them?\u2019 asks the tag line for this grindhouse classic from Tobe Hooper. Banned for decades in the UK, Texas Chainsaw remains a uniquely powerful film. More refined and realistic than similar films such a \u2018Last house on the left\u2019, all of TCM\u2019s scares come the relentless atmosphere and terrifying antagonist. Tellingly, there is almost no blood in the film but after leaving the cinema you feel like you have witnessed a slaughter.<\/p>\n

7. Nightmare on Elm Street \u2013 1984
\nThe horror boom of the 80\u2019s gave birth to a number of new horror icons but king amongst them has to be Wes Craven\u2019s ultimate boogie man Freddy Kruger. A killer who stalks you in your dreams, Kruger was brought to life by the classically trained Robert Englund. Whilst the sequels are imaginative and fun it\u2019s the original film that has all the scares, including a very gory encounter with a young Jonny Depp.<\/p>\n

8. The Ring \u2013 1999
\nThe late 90\u2019s saw and explosion in new Japanese horror cinema and the most terrifying of all has to be The Ring. The set up is simple, once you have watched the cursed VHS tape you have 7 days to live unless you pass the curse onto another. Blending MR James with Japanese folk law, The Ring is a slow burn of a film with an explosive and horrifying final. Forget the watered down American remake and numerous sequels, the original is the real deal.<\/p>\n

9. [REC] \u2013 2007
\nThis low budget Spanish zombie film breathed new life into the \u2018found footage\u2019 genre when it was released in the mid 2000\u2019s. It\u2019s the story of a small TV crew following a group of firefighters on an emergency call to an apartment building. The films simple set up, engaging characters and claustrophobic sets build to one of the most horrifying \u2018what did I just see?\u2019 endings in horror history. All in a lean 78 minutes.<\/p>\n

10. Under the Shadow \u2013 2016
\nSet in Tehran in the mid 1980\u2019s, this war time ghost story is harrowing tale of a mother and her daughter trying to survive the oppression of a terrifying Djinn during a missile strike. Iranian-bord director Babak Anvari dials up the tension to an almost unbearable level in the final act whilst deftly balancing the scares with political commentary in the vein of George R. Romero.<\/p>\n

11. Censor – 2021
\nSet in the 80’s during the video nasty scare which saw countless horror films banned and re-cut in the UK, Censor is both a celebration of those forbidden and maligned works whilst telling its own dark parable about censorship and who gets a say in what we watch. Director (and MetFilm School tutor) Prano Bailey-Bonddelivers one of the smartest horror movies about horror since Wes Craven’s Scream whilst also delivering enough gore and shocks to make the 80s proud.<\/p>\n

Spooky Cobweb Pizza<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 1 large ready-made pizza
\n\u2022 1 tbsp tomato pizza sauce
\n\u2022 150g tube of Primula Cheese
\n\u2022 5 black olives
\nMethod
\n1. Pre-heat your oven to 180\u00b0C.
\n2. Spread the pizza sauce over the base and bake for 10 minutes.
\n3. Remove from the oven and use the Primula tube to pipe a cobweb pattern on top.
\n4. Slice the olives in half and garnish the cobweb with the pieces \u2013 so it looks like spiders.
\n5. Slice and serve.<\/p>\n

Roasted Pumpkin on Sourdough<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 500g pumpkin, peeled and diced
\n\u2022 2 tbsp olive oil
\n\u2022 Pinch of chilli flakes
\n\u2022 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
\n\u2022 1 tbsp honey
\n\u2022 1 loaf of sourdough bread, sliced
\n\u2022 1 garlic clove, peeled
\n\u2022 100g Primula Cheese
\nMethod
\n1. Pre-heat the oven to 180\u00b0
\n2. Arrange the pumpkin in a large, shallow baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and scatter over chilli flakes. Add the chopped garlic cloves.
\n3. Roast for 25 \u2013 30 minutes, or until tender and lightly charred. Remove from the oven, add a tablespoon of honey and mix well to coat the pumpkin. Set aside.
\n4. Toast the sourdough until golden. Remove from the toaster and gently rub with the remaining garlic clove. Top with Primula Cheese
\n5. Serve immediately.
\nLoaded Pumpkin Fries<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 1 medium-sized pumpkin
\n\u2022 2 tsp cornflour
\n\u2022 2 tsp olive oil
\n\u2022 1 tbsp fajita seasoning
\n\u2022 150g Primula Cheese
\n\u2022 Handful of fresh coriander, to garnish
\nMethod
\n1. Using a sharp knife, slice the pumpkin in half. Scoop out the seeds and pulp.
\n2. Remove the ends from the pumpkin, peel and slice into fries.
\n3. Place the pumpkin fries in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Let the fries soak for at least 30 minutes, but preferably overnight.
\n4. When the fries have finished soaking, pre-heat your oven to 220\u00b0
\n5. Drain the fries and pat dry with paper towels.
\n6. Fill a large zip-lock bag with the fries. Add the cornflour, seal the bag and shake to cover the fries. Add the oil and fajita seasoning to the fries and shake well, covering them evenly.
\n7. Spread the fries in a single layer on a lined baking tray. Allow the fries plenty of space to ensure they\u2019re perfectly crisp. You may need a couple of trays.
\n8. Place in the oven for 10 \u2013 15 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the fries are crisp and golden.
\n9. Remove from the oven. Squeeze over the Primula Cheese and scatter the coriander.
\n10. Serve immediately.
\nPumpkin and Sweet Potato Rosti<\/p>\n

Ingredients
\n\u2022 600g mixed pumpkin and sweet potato, peeled and grated
\n\u2022 2 eggs, for binding
\n\u2022 Handful of flat leaf parsley, roughly chopped
\n\u2022 Salt and pepper, to taste
\n\u2022 Olive oil
\n\u2022 100g Primula Cheese
\n\u2022 1 spring onion, sliced
\n\u2022 Lime wedges, optional
\nMethod
\n1. Squeeze all of the water out of your grated pumpkin and sweet potato using an old tea-towel. Add the eggs and parsley. Season to taste then mix well.
\n2. Heat a frying pan over a medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Spoon a heaped tablespoon of the rosti mixture into the pan and cook for 2 minutes, until golden brown. Turn over and repeat.
\n3. Repeat until all of your mixture is gone.
\n4. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to remove any excess oil.
\n5. Plate the rosti and top with Primula Cheese \u2018n\u2019 Chives. Garnish with spring onion and lime wedges.
\n6. Serve immediately.
