First up they have a Six Nations campaign to contend for, with tough trips away to France and Ireland. Then later in the year, there will be some important Autumn internationals ahead of the 2023 World Cup.
Here is a look at three players who can help Ireland have a fantastic year on the field.

Dan Sheehan

Hooker Dan Sheehan picked up his debut for Ireland last November in a Test match against Japan. The 23-year-old has been described as a late developer in the sport and he could be set to wear the jersey alot more in 2022.

The Leinster player is an exciting prospect for the national team. He recently signed a new two-year contract with Leinster, despite speculation linking him to Munster. Sheehan and Ronan Kelleher have created a great competition for club and country.
With more experience of international rugby in 2022, particularly in the Six Nations, Sheehan could be an important player for Ireland at the World Cup next year. They are 10/1 to be crowned in the rugby betting for the tournament in France.

Craig Casey

Scrum-half Craig Casey began his career with Shannon RFC in 2018. Three years later, he made his first appearance for Ireland, coming off the bench against Italy in the 2021 Six Nations.
Casey has a 100% record with the national team, as they have won all four games he has featured in. The 22-year-old played his part in victories over Argentina, Japan and the United States. He made his first start in the latter of those successes in a game where Ireland dominated their opposition, coming out on top 71-10.
Ireland legend Johnny Sexton spoke highly of Casey last year. He said the Munster player has the same work ethic as Johnny Wilkinson. That’s high praise from a man who has achieved so much in the game and has seen many players come and go for the national team.
Casey could really cement himself as a regular in Andy Farrell’s side over the next 12 months.

Caelan Doris

Leinster’s Caelan Doris was named as the Autumn Nations Series Player of the Series in 2021. He scored tries against Argentina and New Zealand in what was an impressive campaign from the back-rower.

The Autumn series was very important for Doris as he did not feature at the Six Nations earlier in the year due to concussion. He proved that his problems were behind with some excellent performances.
Doris has played for Ireland at various age groups, and he has long been tipped to be a future star for the senior team. He has been part of four Pro14 successes for Leinster. If he stays fit and healthy in 2022, he is will be an integral part of Farrell’s team in all competitions.
There is a lot for Irish rugby fans to be excited about in Farrell’s vastly improving team. This could be the year everything clicks into place and they establish themselves as World Cup contenders.

3 Players Who Can Ensure It’s a Good Year for Irish Rugby There is a lot to play for in 2022 for Ireland.
