It’s one of the very few sports that’s widely played around the world that regularly sees teams take the lead in the very last seconds of the game. Unlike football, games are also very regularly postponed due to poor weather conditions or waterlogged pitches. The only real problem is that the seasons are quite short compared to a lot of other sports. For example, in the Premier League, football teams have to play 46 league games every season, and that’s not even taking to account games in the FA Cup, League Cup, or even any European competitions they may be in. In rugby, the leagues are a lot smaller, and there are far fewer cup competitions. So, what can you do to pass the time between games? Here’s a look at some of the other sports that are played more regularly during the year.

Tennis

Tennis is one of the very few sports that can be played 12 months of the year. That’s largely down to the fact that it can be played virtually anywhere, whether it’s in an indoor arena during the colder months, on a clay court, or even on a grass court during the summer. That means the sporting calendar is able to be spread across the year a lot more equally. Whatever time of year it is, you’re very rarely more than a few weeks away from a big tournament. A great way of looking to see when the next big tennis match is happening is to look on a bookmakers’ website. They’ll not only give you the dates and times of the next match, but the odds will even give you a good idea of who they think is the most likely to win the game. Find a website that provides tennis live betting, and you can even follow the latest scores there and watch the odds update depending on how each player is performing.

Football

As mentioned at the start of this article, there are very few athletes busier than a football team. During the busiest part of their season, the biggest teams are expected to play two games every week. Some are even expected to travel across the other side of the continent to play a game midweek and still be back ready in their home country to play a league game at the weekend. Whilst they are given a summer break from the league, the players often spend this either playing for their international sides in tournaments like the Euro 2021 or even friendly warm-up games to prepare for the next season.

Esports

One of the newest sports to enter the sporting calendar is Esports. If you’ve never heard of this before, it is basically people competing against each other whilst playing the latest console games. Whilst this might not sound like a real sport, it’s attracted a lot of real-life athletes to give it a go. For example, many real-life F1 drivers competed competitively in Esport tournaments while the 2020 race was postponed during the pandemic.

Sports you can enjoy all year round whilst the rugby is on a break We all know that rugby is one of the most exciting sports to follow.
