There were quite a few games Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Medallion Shield Round 3 games and Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup games, which were scheduled for Saturday 18<\/span>th<\/span> January, postponed due to frost. These games are re-scheduled to take place in the course of the coming week.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Monday 20<\/span>th<\/span> January Dromore High School 2ndxv played Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup. The Campbell College, Belfast team dominated proceedings and emerged as 40-5 winners.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday 21<\/span>st<\/span> Belfast High School played Grosvenor Grammar School in the replay of their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Round Medallion Shield game. The Belfast High School team won the game by 36-14.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the same afternoon Ballyclare High School played Sullivan Upper School in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Round Medallion Shield game. Sullivan Upper School won this Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Medallion Shield 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Round game by 24-17.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday 22<\/span>nd<\/span> January Rainey Endowed School hosted Omagh Academy in the 1<\/span>st<\/span> Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Bowl competition. Following a closely contested game it was the Rainey Endowed School team that emerged as 14-12 winners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rainey Endowed School team had had to recover from a 7-0 deficit at the break before going on to win the game. A David Braden try, converted by Jake Reid, gave the Omagh Academy team their first half lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the opening exchanges of the second half Sebastian Hastings scored a try for the Rainey ES team, which was converted by Ross Speers, to draw the scores level at 7-7. The Rainey Endowed School team took great encouragement from this and a counter attack move was finished when an excellent chip ahead from Daniel Barfoot was gathered by Abban McCloy who showed a clean pair heals to a despairing Omagh Academy defence before he touched down for the try. Ross Speers added the extras to see the Rainey Endowed School team into a 14-7 lead. The Omagh Academy team showed great commitment in the latter stages of the game and deservedly scored a try with the last play of the game. Alex Colhoun was awarded the touch down, but the conversion was missed, which ensured the final score read Rainey Endowed School team 14 Omagh Academy 12.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the same afternoon Ballyclare High School 2ndxv played Sullivan Upper School 2ndxv in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup and it was the Ballyclare High School team that won the game by 16-7.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 3rdxv Cup Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv played the Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thxv and it was the Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv that won the game by 19-3.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Royal School, Dungannon Medallion team hosted the Royal School, Armagh Medallion team in the replay of their postponed 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Round Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Medallion Shield game. Following another closely contested and exciting game it was the Royal School Armagh team that emerged as 24-19 winners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday 23<\/span>rd<\/span> January Royal School, Dungannon played Dromore High School in the 1<\/span>st<\/span> Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Bowl competition. The game was a closely contested affair which finished with the Dromore High School team recording an 18-17 win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Royal School, Dungannon team scored three tries through Michael Tate, Jack Girvan and Jamie Allen. Jack Girvan completed a fine personal performance with one conversion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Dromore High School team scored two tries through Ryan Rodgers and Taylor Beacom Hurle to which Luke Allison added one conversion and two penalties.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday 24<\/span>th<\/span> January Bangor Grammar School played Wallace High School under the floodlights at Uprichard Park, home of Bangor RFC. Wallace High School won the game by 45-12.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bangor Grammar school points came through tries from Angus Christie and Conor Lusty one of which was converted by Angus Christie.<\/span><\/p>\n

The free flowing Wallace High School team scored seven tries in the course of the game. Jamie McNeight put in a \u201cMan of the Match\u201d performance and scored three tries with Scott Wilson touching down for two and Ulster U19 players, Joel Dundas and Reuben Crothers, each scoring one try. Nathan Doak added the extras to five of the tries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams would like to thank Bangor Rugby Club for the use of their facilities and hosting the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile at City of Derry Rugby Club Strabane Academy played Belfast High School in the \u00bc Final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Bowl competition. Following an excellent game it was the Belfast High School team which emerged as 20-7 winners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The committed Strabane High School team scored a super try through the impressive John Cummings which was converted by Tom Harper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Belfast High School scored three tries through Eddie Gorrod, who touched down twice, and Jacob Ogle. Aaron Douglas was successful with one conversion as well as one penalty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams would like to thank City of Derry RFC for the use of facilities and hosting the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the same afternoon Omagh Academy 2ndxv played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 2ndxv in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup game. The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won the game by 24-0.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday 25<\/span>th<\/span> January the remaining five fixtures in the 1<\/span>st<\/span> Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Bowl competition took place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Limavady Grammar School played Larne Grammar School and won the game by 34-7. Joshua Howe, Xavier McCann, Jamie Clements, Dylan McAuley, Matthew Brown and Euan McLaughlin scored the Limavady Grammar School tries to which Austin Hargan added two conversions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Withers scored the Larne Grammar School try which was converted by Euan Glenn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Lady and St Patrick\u2019s College, Knock hosted Foyle and Londonderry College at the Shaw\u2019s Bridge Sports Complex. The Foyle and Londonderry College team won the game by 17-0. Jack McQuillan, Matthew Kennedy and Craig Doherty scored the tries for the Foyle College team to which Callum Gillen added one conversion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both teams would like to thank Instonian\u2019s RFC\/Cooke RFC for the use of facilities and hosting the game at the Shaw\u2019s Bridge Sports Complex.<\/span><\/p>\n

Portadown College hosted their near neighbours from Lurgan College and had to work hard for their 20-15 victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adam Speers kicked two early penalties for the Portadown College team and then added the conversions to tries scored by team captain, Ryan Neill, and Marshall Clint.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lurgan College team scored their points with two unconverted tries from Luke Forsyth and one unconverted try from Justin Burns.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regent House School played Banbridge Academy in a game which saw the Banbridge Academy team record an impressive 34-7 victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Regent House School team scored a second minute try through Harry Rogers which was converted by Mattie Gibson.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Banbridge Academy team scored three first half tries through Jonny Martin, Marc Murphy and Harry Patterson, who converted his own try, to see the Banbridge Academy team into a 17-7 lead at the break.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ben Bradshaw extended that lead to 22-7 with an unconverted try ten minutes after the restart. Seven minutes later an unconverted try from Scott Graham saw his Banbridge Academy team into a 29-7 lead. With five minutes remaining a second try from the impressive Ben Bradshaw, which was converted by Harry Patterson, secured the 34-7 win for the Banbridge Academy team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wellington College, Belfast played Dalriada School in a game which saw the Dalriada School team emerge as 26-17 winners.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wellington College, Belfast team, for whom Fin Watts and Justin Bingham impressed, scored three tries through Aaron McNeill, who touched down twice, and Chris Campbell. Tom Stanfield was successful with one conversion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Dalriada School team had James McCormick to thank for the majority of their points. James scored a hat trick of tries as well as adding three conversions. Will Scott scored the fourth try for the Dalriada School team.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup the postponed game featuring Ballymena Academy 2ndxv and Bangor Grammar School 2ndxv was played. The Ballymena Academy 2ndxv won the game by 45-5.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 3rdxv Cup Ballyclare High School 3rdxv played Methodist College, Belfast 4thxv and it was the Methodist College 4thxv that won the game by 18-7.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rainey Endowed School hosted Bangor Academy in the replay of their previously drawn Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Medallion Shield 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Round game. The Rainey Endowed School team ensured their progress to the next round with a 33-3victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enniskillen Royal Grammar School played their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Medallion Shield 3<\/span>rd<\/span> Round game against Down High School. The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won the game by 17-10.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Medallion Trophy \u00bc Final games took place when Lurgan College Medallion played Portadown College Medallion. The Portadown College team won this game by 14-0.<\/span><\/p>\n

As well as the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 competition games a number of 1stxv friendly games took place on Saturday 25<\/span>th<\/span> January.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ballyclare High School played Coleraine Grammar School at the Rashee Road venue and finished the game as comprehensive 31-0 winners. Adam Barron, put on a Man of the Match performance with three tries while Alex Darragh and Mark Jackson each scored one. Mark was also successful with three conversions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Belfast Royal Academy played Grosvenor Grammar School in a game the Belfast Royal Academy team won by 34-5. The Belfast Royal Academy team scored six tries in the course of the game. Elliott Donaldson touched down for two with Ben Brown, Zach Burton, Jack McKee and Ollie Parkes each scoring one. Ollie was also successful with two of his conversion kicks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shane Laverty scored an unconverted try for the Grosvenor Grammar School team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Campbell College, Belfast played Royal School, Armagh in a high scoring game the Royal School, Armagh team won by 35-24.<\/span><\/p>\n

Khabir Dill, Zac Solomon, Danny Williamson and Harry Bell each scored a try for the Campbell College, Belfast team with Jack Bonnar adding the conversions to two of the tries.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Royal School, Armagh team Sam Rainey, with two, Josh Cunningham, James Agnew and James Campbell were the try scorers with Romain Morrow adding the conversions to all five tries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friends\u2019 School, Lisburn hosted the City of Armagh U18 team and won the game by 50-10.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Friends\u2019 School team started the game well and took a 7-0 lead when David Scott scored a try which Reece Malone converted. The Armagh U18 team responded with a converted try to draw the scores level at 7-7. The Armagh team then took a 10-7 lead when they converted a penalty opportunity. Just before the half time break Fergus McEwen scored an unconverted try to see the Friends\u2019 School team into a 12-10 lead at the interval.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second half saw the Friends; School, Lisburn team go into all-out attack mode. Patrick McElhinney, David Scott, with his second of the game, Ethan Terris, with two, and Reece Malone, with two, were the try scorers. Reece Malone capped another fine personal performance when he was successful with another four of his conversion kicks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Methodist College, Belfast hosted Ballymena Academy in a game the Methodist College team won by 12-8.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter O\u2019Hagan and Matthew Humphries each scored a try for the Methodist College, Belfast team to which Callum Davidson added one conversion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ballymena Academy points came through an unconverted try from Dean Millar and a penalty kick from Ross McKay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Omagh Academy played Down High School and won the game by 17-10.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Moore and Harry Stephenson scored the Omagh Academy tries to which Jake Reid added two conversions as well as one penalty.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Down High School points came from unconverted tries scored by Joe Charles and Jonathan Graham.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Royal Belfast Academical Institution team travelled to Edinburgh where they played the reigning Scottish Schools\u2019 Cup Holders, Stewart\u2019s Melville College.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Belfast Inst team recorded a morale boosting 26-10 victory with Ollie Metcalfe scoring two tries and Adam Cooke and Jude Postlethwaite each scoring one try. Jack Dickson was successful with three of his conversion kicks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sullivan Upper School played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in an exciting game the Sullivan Upper School team won by 24-15.<\/span><\/p>\n

Harry Sheridan, George Saunderson and Fergus Doherty scored the Sullivan Upper School tries to which Adam Whiteside added three conversions as well as a penalty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sam Balfour, David Stinson and Stephen Balfour each scored an unconverted try for the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday 21<\/span>st<\/span> January the draws took place for the quarter-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv Cup, Plate and Trophy competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The semi-finals of these Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 2ndxv competitions are scheduled to be played on\/before Saturday 15<\/span>th<\/span> February with the finals scheduled to be played on Saturday 29<\/span>th<\/span> February.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The draws for the next stages of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Cup, Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Bowl and Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Trophy competitions will take place at a media launch at the Kingspan Stadium on Monday 27<\/span>th<\/span> January when it is hoped representatives of all participating schools will be in attendance.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
