(above)<br \/>\nBased on a 1911 vintage design by Margaret Morris, intended to illustrate the song sheet of &#8220;The March of the Women,&#8221; a song dedicated to suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst. It became the anthem for the women\u2019s suffrage movement throughout the United Kingdom and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Bugler Girl<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/121f1e43-ba61-4a8a-a5b4-a8ab2a60073d.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bugler Girl &#8211; The striking design on this wash bag is taken from a vintage 1908 poster design by Caroline Marsh Watts. It features a girl marching with a bugle, an instrument historically used to relay instructions during battle. The Bugler Girl certainly trumpeted her battle message loud and clear: against injustice, for equality.<\/p>\n<p>William Morris Strawberry Thief<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/86c85a0a-69b1-48d7-8fcd-e5e94fbb609a.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>William Morris Strawberry Thief &#8211; \u2018When class-robbery is abolished every man will reap the fruits of his labour.\u2019<br \/>\nCombining one William Morris\u2019 classic designs The Strawberry Thief and a radical quote by him in a perfect marriage of his two passions: art and activism.<\/p>\n<p>Liberty, Equality, Fraternity<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/9b972a83-0180-497d-9a45-6e20f547b4af.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Liberty, Equality, Fraternity &#8211; William Morris created this design for the membership card of the Social Democratic Federation (Britain\u2019s first socialist political party).<br \/>\nA British artist, poet, novelist, and ardent socialist, Morris is best known as the 19th century&#8217;s most celebrated textile designer, responsible for the some of the most recognisable textile patterns from the century.<\/p>\n<p>Votes For Women Wanted<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/d1f67ca5-376e-478a-a1ee-e57a46b6727b.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Votes For Women Wanted &#8211; This image is based on a 1909 poster advertising Votes for Women, the official Suffragette newspaper. The design is by Hilda Dallas (1878-1958).<br \/>\n&#8220;The Suffragettes&#8221; was a nickname given to the Women\u2019s Social and Political Union, who had broken away from the National Union of Women&#8217;s Suffrage Societies in order to pursue militant tactics under Emmeline Pankhurst.<\/p>\n<p>Washington Suffrage<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/a1536c13-9735-4ed4-af3d-c56e9d2585ad.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Washington Suffrage &#8211; The artwork on this wash bag captures an inspiring moment of feminist history: the \u2018Woman\u2019s Suffrage Procession\u2019, the first suffragist parade in Washington, D.C., organised by suffragist Alice Paul. On March 3rd, 1913, the day before President Woodrow Wilson&#8217;s inauguration, thousands of suffragists marched down Pennsylvania Avenue \u2018in a spirit of protest against the present political organisation of society, from which women are excluded.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Specifications: Sturdy wash bag in 300gsm bleached half panama with a strong brass top zip.
