They were awarded a penalty inside the Lurgan half and opted for the post and when Pete-so Cannons kick struck the post Emmet Brogan showed sharp reactions to pounce on the rebound, setting up a ruck from which Jason Vance used his speed and power to crash through a tattered Lurgan defence. Donegals second try came from a scrum when Gareth McMurray got a flat pass to ghost through the line and step subsequent cover tackles to dot down near the posts. The third came from McMurray again when Lurgan spilled possession. Donegal hacked through and the ball was popped to McMurray who went over, bringing half time and a lead of 21 points to 6. Donegal began the second half with a third McMurray try when they broke the line from a good scrum, which was a consistent area of dominance for the North West side throughout the eighty minutes. McMurray crossed the line leaving Lurgan bodies scattered in his wake, which added the flourish to what would be a clear cut man of the match display. The game instantly would take turn for the worse however, as Lurgan would score from the resulting kickoff and soon became apparent that the tide had turned. Perhaps at 34-6 Donegal felt like it was a case of job done, mixed with Lurgans resilience and ability to capitalise on Donegals inability to kill of the game. Missed tackles and poor decision making would ultimately cost what was an almost unassailable lead and cast what was a credible league challenge into doubt. With one minutes to go the scores were thirty four points to twenty seven and momentum was with the home side. The momentum told, and Donegal’s hopes of getting out of jail were crushed, as Lurgan scored underneath the posts to ensure a tied game. A shocked and bewildered Donegal side were left to lick their wounds and to contemplate how to turn their form around, before their final match of the year away to Monaghan in two weeks time.

Donegal team: 1)Ronan Gillespie 2)Emmett Brogan 3)Shaun mcGill 4)Shaun Mahon 5)Daniel Gildea 6)Byran Mulhern 7)Shane Gillespie 8)Jimmy Brogan 9)Hugh Morrow 10)Pete-so Cannon 11)Jason Vance 12)Gareth McMurray 13)Joe Kennedy 14)Rory Boyle 15)Declan Declan Bushell

Lurgan 1st 34
Donegal town 1st 34
CLICK HERE for action shots from these fast and FURIOUS GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donegal U17s 16
Ballynahinch 22
CLICK HERE for action shots from these fast and FURIOUS GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donegal U15s 5
Ballynahinch 5
CLICK HERE for action shots from these fast and FURIOUS GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donegal U13s 52
Ballynahinch 5

CLICK HERE for Donegal Town RFC TV footage of the U13s Donegal RFC I XV 34 v Lurgan RFC I XV 34 Donegal started the better of the two in what would prove to be a game of two halves.
