Ards kept up the pressure keeping Portadown pinned in their 22, fly half Andy Savage scored a penalty in the 15th minute to extend the lead to 8 points.<br \/>\nConran Stewart was unstoppable in the 18th minute crashing through the Portadown defence to score which was converted by Savage. Continued great play by the whole Ards team and phase after phase paid off again in the 27th minute when Savage slotted over another penalty to bring the score to 18 nil.<br \/>\nOn the verge of half time Portadown opened their account with an easy penalty.<br \/>\nA totally different Portadown came out after the break and scored an early converted try. Ricky Aston pressurised the Portadown full back and turned over the play with the ball arriving to flanker Ben Smith to crash over for a great try Savage was unlucky with the conversion. This was answered with a scrappy Portadown try and conversion, Ards held on to come out deserved 23 \u2013 17 winners.<br \/>\nSchools Tag Rugby<br \/>\nSt Mary\u2019s PS Comber, Donaghadee PS, St Finians PS Newtownards and St Patricks PS Ballygalget are amongst this seasons schools already availing of Tag Rugby. Tag Rugby (none contact) is a fun sport for both boys and girls and can be played both indoors and out. So come on lads where are you, your club needs you.<br \/>\nCoaching Course<br \/>\nCoaching courses at Foundation level will be held at Malone RFC on Sunday 31st October and Sunday 7th November 2010<br \/>\nCost for the course is \u00a345 and application forms obtainable from the Ulster Branch or downloaded from this website (click on About Us\/Club Documents) must be returned to Ravenhill by Friday 22nd October 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Referees \u2018Appreciation\u2019 Society<br \/>\nHad a look at the club Forum lately to see what some of the referee\u2019s think of the setup at Ards this season.<br \/>\nJust goes to show that there are one or two &#8216;decent&#8217; refs out there after all and not all of them need to go to &#8216;Specsavers.&#8217; \u000b\u000bThanks for the compliments chaps and keep up the good work for without you there would be no rugby.<\/p>\n<p>Injury Update<\/p>\n<p>1st XV player Chris Agnew has had surgery on his elbow and hopes to be back about the club in a week or so.
