Danske Bank Ulster Schools\u2019 Round Up Saturday 13th October 2018
\nThere was one midweek fixture played on Wednesday 10th October in the lead up to almost a full list of fixtures played on Saturday 13th October.
\nLurgan College hosted a midweek fixture on Wednesday 10th October against Wellington College, Belfast. The game turned out to be a high scoring affair which the Lurgan College team won by 39-21. The Lurgan College team had built up a 20-14 lead by half time with four unconverted tries from Harry Bird, Mark McElhinney and Sam Lawther who rambled over the Wellington College line twice.
\nThe Wellington College points in the first half came through two tries from Dillon O\u2019Brien both of which were converted by Jake Hamilton.
\nIn the second half Jon Woods, Harry McDowell and a second from the impressive Mark McElhinney were the Lurgan College try scorers to which Harry Bird added two conversions.
\nThe Wellington College points came through a third try from Dillon O\u2019Brien which was converted by Jake Hamilton.
\nOn Saturday 13th October Ballymena Academy played Belfast Royal Academy in a closely contested game the Ballymena Academy team won by 10-8. The Belfast Royal Academy team took a 5-0 lead into the break having scored an unconverted try through Tom Stewart.
\nThe Belfast Royal Academy team dominated possession for long periods of time but resolute Ballymena Academy defence ensured their team forfeited only a Harry Warke penalty during that time which put the visitors into an 8-0 lead. An Alex McKinney intercept led to a Ballymena Academy try which was converted by Ross McKay to reduce the deficit to 8-7. Ross McKay then secured the 10-8 victory for his team with a last minute penalty kick.
\nBangor Grammar School defeated Ballyclare High School by 12-7 when the teams met in difficult conditions in Bangor. The Ballyclare High School team was 12-0 down at the break after Ben Mc Crossan had crossed their line for two tries, one of which was converted by Rhys Larmour.
\nThe second half saw the Ballyclare High School team mount something of a comeback. They got some reward for their endeavours when Adam Campbell touched down for a try which Mark Jackson converted.
\nCampbell College, Belfast hosted Coleraine Grammar School in a game the Campbell College team won by 20-5. The Campbell College points came through tries from Paddy McAlpine, who touched down twice, and Rex Tinsley. Jack Bonner added two conversions as well as a penalty.
\nDavid Brown scored the unconverted try for the Coleraine Grammar School team.
\nCarrickfergus Grammar School played Cambridge House School in an entertaining game the Cambridge House team won by 24-18. The Carrickfergus Grammar School points came through tries from Daniel Curley and Liam Kaprigiannis-Green. Daniel added two penalties as well as one conversion. Jakob McComb and Adam Anthony impressed also for the Carrickfergus Grammar School team.
\nThe Cambridge House School points came through tries from Kane McIlroy, Adam Brannigan, Josh Caldwell and Ethan Caldwell. Rory McCandless was successful with two conversions.
\nDalriada School recorded a comprehensive against Foyle and Londonderry College. Jacob Fleck touched down twice for the Dalriada School team with Thomas Hunter, Henry Ross, Peter Wright, Philip Irvine and Will Scott each scoring one try. James McCormick converted five of the tries as well as one penalty.
\nDromore High School lost by 52-0 against Down High School when the teams met at the Barban Hill venue. Down High School scored eight tries through Charlie Marshall, Andrew McCoubrey , Josh Hanlon, Greg Hutley, who touched down twice, Stuart Campbell, Jack Martin and Reuben Dickson. Greg Hutley completed a Man of the Match performance with six successful conversions.
\nFriends\u2019 School, Lisburn recorded a morale boosting 30-24 victory against a very well-organised Omagh Academy team. The Friends\u2019 School points came through tries from Luke Scoffield, who scored twice, Reece Malone, Jack Harte and Harry Reid. Reece Malone added one penalty as well as one conversion.
\nThe Omagh Academy points came through tries from Ryan Armstrong, who touched down for a hat trick, and John McBride. Will Stewart was successful with two of his conversion kicks.
\nGrosvenor Grammar School hosted Regent House School in a very tight encounter which the Regent House team won by 7-5. The Grosvenor Grammar School points came through an unconverted try from their flying winger, Ethan Robinson.
\nRegent House secured their 7-5 victory with a try from Matthew McFarland which was converted by Stuart Martin.<\/p>\n

Larne Grammar School and Belfast High School played out an exciting game the Larne Grammar School team won by 28-12. The Belfast High School team had built up a 12-6 lead by the interval through tries from Jack Ferguson and Cameron McKimm, one of which was converted by Aaron Douglas.
\nThe second half saw the Larne Grammar School team score three tries through the returning Jack Moore, Aaron Gallagher and Jack Withers. Euan Glenn added one penalty as well as two conversions to secure the 28-12 victory for his Larne Grammar School team.
\nLimavady Grammar School hosted Banbridge Academy in a very competitive game the Banbridge Academy team won by 14-5. The Limavady Grammar School team took an early 5-0 lead when Joel Boucher ran in for an unconverted try.
\nThe Banbridge Academy team responded with a try, on the stroke of half time, from Niall Thompson. Andrew Denvir added the extras to see his team into a 7-5 lead at the interval.
\nThe Banbridge team worked hard in the second half and got rewarded for their endeavours when Matthew Robinson took advantage of good work from Jake Beattie before touching down for a try. Andrew Denvir added the conversion to secure the 14-5 win for the Banbridge Academy team.
\nPortadown College hosted Royal School, Armagh in a Co-Armagh Derby game the players from the Cathedral City won by 33-5. Peter Taylor, Charlie Worth, Jayson Denley, James Brown and Chris Whiteside all scored a try for the Royal School, Armagh team. Charlie Worth was successful with three conversion kicks as was Romaine Morrow with one conversion kick.
\nThe Portadown College points came through an unconverted try from Dylan Nelson midway through the second half.
\nRoyal Belfast Academical Institution hosted the \u201cGame of the Day\u201d when they entertained the Methodist College, Belfast team at Osborne Park. The Methody team, having built up a 14-0 lead by the interval, went on to win the game by 19-10. The Methody points in the first half came through tries from Ben Gourley and Chris Larmour, both of which were converted by Ethan McIlroy.
\nThe Royal Belfast Academical Institution team responded with a Ewan Magee try in the second half, which was converted by Robin McIlveen. Robin was also successful with a penalty kick. However, an unconverted try from Max Lyttle ensured the 19-10 victory for the Methodist College, Belfast team at the end of the game.
\nRoyal School, Dungannon played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School at the WK Armstrong pitch in a game the Enniskillen RGS team won by 35-10. Ryan Phair, Calum Smyton, who scored twice and Alex Parke, who also scored twice, scored the tries for the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team. Eddie Keyes was successful with all five conversion kicks.
\nLuke McMullan scored a penalty for the Royal School, Dungannon team as well as adding the conversion to his own try.
\nSullivan Upper School and Wallace High School played out a game the Wallace High School team won by 24-15. Jack Bailie and Nathan Doak each scored two tries for the Wallace High School team to which Nathan added two conversions.
\nThe Sullivan Upper points came through tries from Shay Storey and Jamie Thallon with Conor McKee adding one conversion as well as one penalty.
\nOn Friday 19th and Saturday 20th October Methodist College, Belfast will celebrate their 150th Anniversary by hosting a two day rugby tournament involving schools from all round Ireland as well as Mount St Mary\u2019s from England and Cymoedd College from Wales. Methodist College, Belfast, Ballymena Academy, Royal Belfast Academical Institution, Campbell College, Belfast, Belfast Royal Academy and Wallace High School will be joined by Blackrock College, St Michael\u2019s College, Clongowes Wood College and Belvedere College from Dublin as well as Christian Brother\u2019s College, Cork, Rockwell College from Cashel, Crescent College and Glenstall Abbey from Limerick.
\nThe teams will play in four groups of four with each team playing each other in the groups on a round robin basis. Each team will play six games over the two days with each game lasting fifteen minutes each half. There will be a five minute interval in each game. The teams will compete for the Methody Cup, Methody Shield, Methody Bowl and the Methody Plate.
\nThe action starts at 10-00am on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
