Naas however in the end scored more points and were right behind Ards all the way until the last few minutes of the game.<\/p>\n<p>It was gutting for the Ards boys to loose after playing open expansive rugby and competing successfully at the lineout scrum and ruck level. <\/p>\n<p>Ards had a fantastic try scoring opportunity in the last 10 minutes just failing at the last hurdle on the wing 3-4 metres from the try line. Naas on the other hand completed almost exactly the same move to find the rub of the green in their favour and touched the ball down for a try in the last few minutes.<\/p>\n<p>We get the feeling that Ards are about to make that break through few weeks where the intensity of AIL brings out the best in players and they will produce the Ards spirit once again. <\/p>\n<p>Congrats to Naas on the victory.<\/p>\n<p>The standard of Rugby was excellent from both teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/s\/c\/bin\/slideshow.swf?host=picasaweb.google.com&#038;RGB=0x000000&#038;feed=http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/data\/feed\/api\/user\/intouchrugby\/albumid\/5523895879357265745%3Falt%3Drss\"> 204 Photos on slideshow of Ards v Naas. Both teams scored throughout the game and displayed some excellent rugby. Ophir are another developing side and should provide stern opposition for the young Ardsmen. Kick-off is at 11am.<\/p>\n<p>The U15s have been put into a development structure and details on their games should be known soon.<\/p>\n<p>Mini<\/p>\n<p>The Minis hosted Ballynahinch and Belfast Harlequins Mini sections at Hamilton Park last Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>There were literally hundreds of people enjoying a day out in the bright autumn sunshine either playing or cheering on their teams throughout the afternoon.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_0970.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/IMG_0970-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_0970\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5055\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When the last tries were scored and the final whistles sounded, everyone headed home feeling very pleased with their efforts at the end of a very enjoyable day.<\/p>\n<p>Special thanks are extended to everyone who helped make the day go so well and to all those who supplied sandwiches for the post match \u2018chinwag\u2019 and cuppa afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>Mini rugby at Ards is open to both boys and girls and is held on Sundays from 2 \u2013 3.30pm and everyone will be very welcome.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about playing Mini rugby at Ards, please contact Ian Caughey on 07917 646980 for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Training Times<\/p>\n<p>Seniors &#8211; Tuesday and Thursday &#8211; 6.45pm &#8211; 8.30pm<br \/>\nLadies &#8211; Wednesday &#8211; 6.45pm &#8211; 8.30pm<br \/>\nYouth (U19s &#038; 17s) &#8211; Tuesday and Thursday &#8211; 6.45pm &#8211; 8.30pm<br \/>\nYouth (U15s) &#8211; Tuesday &#8211; 6.45pm &#8211; 8.30pm<br \/>\nYouth (U13s) &#8211; Sunday &#8211; 2pm &#8211; 3.30pm<br \/>\nMini &#8211; Sunday &#8211; 2 &#8211; 3.30<\/p>\n<p>Schools Tag Rugby<\/p>\n<p>Schools tag rugby is now up and running once again and anyone who would like tag rugby (none contact) delivered to their school should contact Emma Hingston, the Sports Development Officer at Ards Borough Council on 02891 824000 or e-mail \u0013 HYPERLINK &#8220;mailto:emma.hingston@ards-council.gov.uk&#8221; \u0014emma.hingston@ards-council.gov.uk\u0015 to book their place.<\/p>\n<p>Sport Bursaries<\/p>\n<p>Young people in Ards have the chance to scoop a \u00a3500 award by applying now for one of three Blair Mayne Bursaries. <\/p>\n<p>Anyone under the age of 25 who lives in the Ards Borough and who aspires to excellence in one of three categories &#8211; sport, academic study or adventure training, can apply for a Bursary as a way to help them to achieve a goal or realise a particular project. <\/p>\n<p>Recent awards have gone to talented sports men and women, musicians, students and adventurers, all of whom received bursaries to pursue their ambitions. <\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Blair Mayne Bursary Committee, Alderman Ronnie Ferguson, is encouraging other young people to take advantage of the funding on offer: <\/p>\n<p>The Bursary represents a great opportunity for any young person to pursue a goal or ambition and can be used to contribute to the cost of anything from specialist training, tuition or equipment to undertaking an expedition or enabling someone to travel for the purposes of voluntary or charitable work, said Alderman Ferguson. All any young person needs to show is a commitment to aspire to excellence in their chosen field and I hope again to see a diverse number of quality applications. <\/p>\n<p>The Bursary was established with excess funds from a public appeal to erect a memorial to Lt Col Blair Mayne DSO, and is intended to reflect his life and achievements by encouraging young people to aspire to excellence. <\/p>\n<p>The closing date for applications is Wednesday 27 October 2010.
