{"id":48709,"date":"2013-06-17T09:56:47","date_gmt":"2013-06-17T08:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=48709"},"modified":"2024-06-18T20:34:51","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T19:34:51","slug":"well-done-liam-mcguigan-from-lurgan-county-armagh-winer-going-on-tour-with-the-lions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/well-done-liam-mcguigan-from-lurgan-county-armagh-winer-going-on-tour-with-the-lions\/","title":{"rendered":"Well Done Liam McGuigan from Lurgan, County Armagh &#8211; Winner &#038; Going On Tour With THE LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Liam McGuigan on winning the Lions mainevent to represent IReland as part of rhte British &#038; Irish Lions ultimate supporters team who have won the trip of a lifetime, Liam we believe is already in Oz and on tour with the LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>British &#038; Irish Lions fans tested to the extreme by Georgie Thompson <\/p>\n<p>The search for rugby\u2019s ultimate supporters to join The British &#038; Irish Lions on their Tour to Australia is over <\/p>\n<p>14 June 2013: Today, sports commentator Georgie Thompson put four British &#038; Irish Lions fans through their paces prior to them flying out to Australia to complete in a range of outlandish challenges against local fans while they follow The Tour around the country.<\/p>\n<p>The four fans won this chance of a lifetime through a competition called The Mane Event, organised by Microsoft search engine Bing and Qantas Airways, the Spirit of Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The four winners who will be travelling to Australia are Englishman Ben Stack, from Felixstowe, Suffolk; Welshman Andrew Donovan from Cardiff; Scotsman Scott Johnston from Glasgow and Liam McGuigan from Lurgan, County Armagh.<\/p>\n<p>All of them took part in a training camp with Georgie Thompson on Friday near London Heathrow including testing their endurance by sitting in an ice bath.<\/p>\n<p>While out in Australia, they will be pitted against local rugby fans in a series of challenges including a classic \u201cIt\u2019s a Knockout\u201d competition, sheep shearing and singing national anthems with the Lions Choir against the Qantas Choir &#8211; to prove, once and for all, who are the most passionate fans.<\/p>\n<p>Georgie Thompson said: &#8220;It&#8217;s been great to spend time with The Mane Event team that&#8217;ll take on Australian rugby fans in these random yet brilliant challenges over the next three weeks &#8211; and put them through their paces to ensure they are up to the job.
