{"id":4225,"date":"2010-09-03T09:49:06","date_gmt":"2010-09-03T08:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=4225"},"modified":"2010-09-03T10:39:04","modified_gmt":"2010-09-03T09:39:04","slug":"application-to-apply-for-post-of-general-manager-rugby-league-ireland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/application-to-apply-for-post-of-general-manager-rugby-league-ireland\/","title":{"rendered":"Application to Apply For Post Of General Manager \/ Rugby League Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rugby League Ireland is looking to appoint a General Manager who has the ability to further develop Rugby League Ireland into a successful and effective sporting body able to expand and offer greater opportunities within the sport for people in Ireland. <\/p>\n<p>They will have excellent communication and business skills, be a well motivated self starter and demonstrate an ability to promote the sport of Rugby League in all areas of the community to a cross section of people. <\/p>\n<p>Package will be around Euro 35k with car and will report directly to the Board of Rugby League Ireland. <\/p>\n<p>Application including CV and cover letter to be sent to info@rli.ie cc richard.egan@citi.com by 17.00 on 10th Sept 2010<\/p>\n<p><strong>JOB DESCRIPTION:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Job Title:  Rugby League Ireland Business Development Executive<br \/>\nLocation: Ireland<\/p>\n<p>Job Grade:  General Manager<br \/>\nReports to:  RLI Board\t<\/p>\n<p>PURPOSE OF THE JOB:<\/p>\n<p>To develop a sustainable platform for the ongoing growth of Rugby League Football in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>PRINCIPAL DUTIES \/ ACTIVITIES:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tTo oversee development of RLI company<br \/>\n\u2022\tDeal with Government Bodies to ensure full recognition of RLI as governing body and linking into all subsidiary bodies<br \/>\n\u2022\tAct as conduit with any new or professional franchises\/teams until setup is complete<br \/>\n\u2022\tMaintain contact with RFL in order to maintain standards and procedures<br \/>\n\u2022\tTo raise awareness of Rugby League (RL) in the island of Ireland<br \/>\n\u2022\tDevelop and implement an appropriate income generation strategy that will enable the ongoing growth of RL.  This will include sales of sponsorship, advertising and sourcing of grant funding.<br \/>\n\u2022\tHighlight the health benefits of being involved with RL at a participatory level.<br \/>\n\u2022\tEnsure that all external funding is monitored and accounted for.<br \/>\n\u2022\tUndertake sponsorship management duties to ensure that sponsors needs are delivered within the terms of the agreement.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAttend and report on all relevant meetings as directed by the Board of RLI.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAct as contact for all non playing issues.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDevelop and implement annual marketing plan for RLI to include but not limited to:-<br \/>\ni)\tPR and Media Management<br \/>\nii)\tDrafting and dispatching of ezines<br \/>\niii)\tDeveloping and maintaining a website<br \/>\niv)\tCreating links with the local community to promote the game at both participation and viewing level.<br \/>\nv)\tMembership subscription scheme<br \/>\n\u2022\tArrange and manage events to include but not limited to:-<br \/>\ni)\tSeason dinners\/launches<br \/>\nii)\tRep games<br \/>\niii)\tOther tournaments<br \/>\niv)\tVisiting team hospitality<\/p>\n<p>PRINCIPAL HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tCompliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, with specific responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all personnel within their control including themselves and for ensuring the overall safe and compliant planning, implementation and monitoring of all activities.<br \/>\n\u2022\tReporting of all accidents and\/or incidents and near misses in accordance with procedures.<\/p>\n<p>PRINCIPAL LINE MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES <\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tPreparation and delivery of monthly reports and key performance indicators to members of the  Board<br \/>\n\u2022\tIn conjunction with the Board, set and review annual budgets.<br \/>\n\u2022\tEnsure compliance with the Company\u2019s financial authority\u2019s procedures.<br \/>\n\u2022\tUndertake Line Management activities for any staff within Rugby League Ireland.  To lead, manage and motivate the performance of the staff by the setting and reviewing of individual targets and objectives, maintain discipline, communicate appropriately and develop staff to meet business needs.<br \/>\n\u2022\tBe responsible for ensuring and maintaining robust and effective paths of information\/communication\/dissemination within the organisation as a whole.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrate a commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and diversity and ensure that the culture, philosophy and processes within Rugby League Ireland and the game are free from bias and discrimination.  The post holder\u2019s duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with the RFL\u2019s Equal Opportunities Policy and all local policies and procedures.<\/p>\n<p>ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tPrevious experience of responsibility within a sporting organisation<br \/>\n\u2022\tAn ability to motivate and support individuals and groups, together with practical experience of managing staff<br \/>\n\u2022\tExperience of establishing, building and maintaining effective relationships with external groups, organisations and\/or individuals especially media and funding partners<br \/>\n\u2022\tA strong focus on customer service<br \/>\n\u2022\tProven Project Management experience<br \/>\n\u2022\tStrong influencing skills, proven at a senior level<br \/>\n\u2022\tAbility to think and act strategically<br \/>\n\u2022\tA positive attitude to Information Technology in carrying out the responsibilities of the post with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Email<br \/>\n\u2022\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills<br \/>\n\u2022\tWillingness to work unsociable hours as required.<\/p>\n<p>DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tPrevious experience of working within a Rugby League environment<br \/>\n\u2022\tA full, valid driving licence<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rugby League Ireland is looking to appoint a General Manager who has the ability to further develop Rugby League Ireland into a successful and effective sporting body able to expand and offer greater opportunities within the sport for people in Ireland.
