If your feet hurt, it seems that everything hurts. Many illnesses or conditions can put your feet and legs at increased risk of injury and disability. The health of your feet can be critical to your mobility and is often directly related to your general wellbeing. Bad foot care could, and does, result in less mobility and increases the risk of complications, especially in conditions such as arthritis and diabetes. Podiatry is the management of problems and disorders which occur on or around the foot (including skin and nails).

Although I am now working as a self employed podiatrist I previously worked in London and Edinburgh before returning home and working for one of our local health trusts. Registered with the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (member 13769) and with the Health Professions Council (CH 12887), I have 15 years experience and offer a range of treatments for foot problems including:

Verrucae
Corns, Hard Skin, Callus
Bunions
Ingrown/Infected toe nails
Heel pain, Fallen arches
Assessing foot function (correcting walk patterns etc)
General foot/nail care and shoe advice
Children are very welcome. Many parents worry that children will be frightened but often the children surprise their parents with their understanding of the problem and what they would like to happen.

When necessary, onward referral to a specialist podiatrist or medical doctor will be recommended. This could be for customised insoles to correct walk patterns, although for a majority of people the ‘over the counter’ insoles will be sufficient.

LOCAL ANAESTHETIC MAY BE USED IF THIS IS CONSIDERED APPROPRIATE

Testimonial

“I only need to see you every 8-9months, I saw my last chiropodists every 4-5 weeks”
70 year old patient, on recurring nail problem
March 2009

Healthy Feet NI
53 Church Place
Lurgan, Craigavon

Tel: 028 3834 6111

W: www.healthyfeetni.com

Podiatry (previously known as chiropody) Foot pain is not normal.
