The ball was recycled a number of phases and with advantage being played, Chris
McVitty deftly slotted through a chip for Nigel Johnston to collect and slide over out wide, for the
first try of the game. 5 – 0 to the home side.
The next score came not long after, as Enniskillen’s play began to improve despite the poor
conditions. It was a brilliant running line taken by Nigel Johnston cutting through the Larne
defense to nearly score again, but through unselfishness decided to pass five meters out. The play
was halted, but quick thinking from debutant McCleery saw him snipe down the blind side of the
ruck to score again outwide, his first try in a Enniskillen 1
st
XV jersey. Johnston failed to convert
but ‘Skins had doubled their advantage.
This would be the last score of the half with Enniskillen finishing the better side.
Larne fought back in the second half, converting two penalties from silly infringements by
Enniskillen, thus closing the gap to just four points.
However ‘Skins got back on track and the next score came from Robbie Murray, who chased a
brilliantly weighted kick, again by McVitty, to score under the posts and Johnston added the extras.
17 – 6.
The Enniskillen set piece was working well despite the conditions and along with the accurate
lineout throwing of the recently returned Ryan Cathcart, the scrum was also getting the better of the
visitors’ pack. This was evident when Gavin Parke picked up from a five-meter scrum to power
over under the posts for a try which Johnston converted to increase the lead to 24 – 6.
The final score came from a finely worked play, moving from left to right, that saw Murray grab his
second try following great support work, sealing a 31 – 6 victory.
Enniskillen’s performance was improved immensely from the Omagh defeat and players such as
Jamie Johnston, Nigel Johnston, Murray and debutant McCleery, to name just a few,all played well.
Enniskillen will hope to continue their history of good Towns cup runs and progress further in this
competition.
Enniskillen now have two big league games ahead of them in succesive weeks against the top two
sides in the league and the results in both will determine their league status. They travel firstly to
Ballyclare next Saturday and all travelling support is welcome. Kick-off 2.30.

Powerade Towns Cup – The MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always the big one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
