Cancelling family and ditching friends; Berocca investigates why Brits are missing out on going out<\/p>\n

July 2017: New research from Berocca, the number one energy vitamin[2], reveals the UK is increasingly becoming a nation of recluses with low energy levels causing nearly half of people (42%) to miss out on new experiences. Of the 2,000 people surveyed, 1 in 4 (28%) feel too tired to spend time with family and friends, and one third (35%) have no energy to meet new people.<\/p>\n

As 66% of the UK view tiredness as their number one health concern[3], The Berocca Energy Report was launched to encourage Brits to look after their own energy and fatigue levels, so they can be ready to embrace life\u2019s opportunities. It comes as a response to over half of the UK (52%) admitting they cancel or avoid social engagements entirely due to feeling too tired.<\/p>\n

Energy crashes are disrupting daily lives with top activities being missed out on including:<\/p>\n

1. Trying new experiences (42%)<\/p>\n

2. Meeting new people (35%)<\/p>\n

3. Spending time with friends and family (28%)<\/p>\n

4. Reading books (28%)<\/p>\n

5. Going for dinner (27%)<\/p>\n

Nearly one in four (23%) Brits report having energy spikes and crashes an average of 3-4 times each week, with energy levels lowest at 3pm on Mondays. Additionally, two thirds of us (62%) want an energy solution that is not dependent on caffeine or sugar.<\/p>\n

The Berocca Energy Report aims to inspire Brits to seek natural energy alternatives and embrace the activities they were once too tired to commit to; with 57% of people saying they would accept up to three more social occasions every week if they had revitalised energy levels. Getting fit (36%), achieving personal goals (24%) and spending more time with the family (20%) tops the nation\u2019s priority list of things to do with more energy.<\/p>\n

Expert Dietitian and Nutritionist, Dr Sarah Schenker says: \u201cVery often low motivation and energy is caused by poor diet and sleep. The lack of key nutrients can also leave the body feeling drained. B vitamins are important for the release of energy from food and drinks, a poor intake could cause tiredness and lethargy throughout the day and impact on being able to enjoy life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nineteen year old hails from Norfolk and was born with a congenital heart defect, Tetralogy of Fallot. Alfie underwent open-heart surgery at six months old and was diagnosed with Perthes Disease at the age of six. Alfie started playing wheelchair tennis in 2005 after attending a Tennis Foundation training camp. He played his first tournament in 2008 and was selected to represent Great Britain at the ITF\u2019s European Junior Wheelchair Tennis Camp.<\/p>\n

I saw James Ward in the first week of Wimbledon, I watched his match, just so I could see what it looked like on him and envisage myself in that position. The Norwich City season ticket holder has had a good rivalry with Argentine Gustavo Fernandez in recent months, beating his compatriot in the Rolland Garros final only weeks after losing to him in straight sets.<\/p>\n

Hewett had this to say on his recent match-ups against Fernandez: \u201cAnything can happen, it\u2019s a tough surface, and movement is exposed. Both of our movements will be key to winning the match I have to focus on my first match against Nicholas (Peifer), if I win and he wins, then I think we\u2019ll play each other in the semi\u2019s, so a rematch of the Rolland Garros final will definitely be interesting.<\/p>\n
