Openside flanker Sean Doyle is determined to make his mark at Ulster after joining the Province last month. \u201cI didn\u2019t come here for the sightseeing or the weather; I came here to play rugby,\u201d states the 23 year old.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I was pretty close to making that next step back home but I wasn\u2019t going to sit there and wait for it and Ulster gave me the opportunity so I\u2019ve come over to make the most of it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Elaborating on his reasons for making the move, he said: \u201cI got a few games for Waratahs \u2018A\u2019 and Western Force \u2018A\u2019 but nothing really eventuated. Being Irish qualified, I looked into getting an Irish passport and got it sorted my manager put me in touch with Ulster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doyle, whose Grandfather hails from County Clare continued: \u201cLeaving my family and everything like that was tough. It was hard to leave my club team, I was captaining them and we were sitting second in the table. But at the end of the day it wasn\u2019t a hard decision to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

The likeable Aussie has settled in well to his new city and is enjoying the hospitality from his team mates and other locals. \u201cThe people are great. All the boys are good \u2018craic\u2019 as they like to call it. They\u2019re all looking after me and taking me out to see a few things. Everyone else I\u2019ve met has been really nice too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doyle, who left his job as an electrician in Sydney to hook up with Ulster, is enjoying pre-season. \u201cThe rugby has been great so far, I\u2019m enjoying playing with such a professional outfit. The training and facilities here are very good and the coaching staff are really on the ball and we\u2019re all working towards the same goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

On new coach Mark Anscombe he said: \u201cHe\u2019s got a very smart rugby brain. He\u2019s pretty straight down the line and doesn\u2019t beat about the bush which is the way it should be. He\u2019s had a lot of emphasis on the ruck at the minute which is good, I like that. There\u2019s lots of rucking in a game so if you can be effective at that, you\u2019ve got a good chance of winning the game.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
