Ulster Rugby hopes to attract more young players into the game following the successful Ulster Branch Girls Schools’ Cup competition earlier this year and off the back of the accomplishments of the Ireland Women’s 7s team on the European circuit.
The girls’ camps will take place over 3 days and no prior experience of the game is necessary. The aim of the camps will be to introduce and develop key skills within the game of rugby union in a fun and safe environment, under the watchful eyes of qualified and experienced coaches.
At a cost of £30, the participants will not only receive a full coaching programme delivered by Ulster Rugby coaches, but will also take away an Ulster Rugby t-shirt, rugby ball and boot-bag, as well as a voucher for a ticket to an Ulster match at Ravenhill.
Ulster Rugby Women’s Development Officer, Joy Sparkes, said: “In order to reflect the number of young girls playing rugby, in one form or another throughout the Province, Ulster Rugby felt that it was important to recognise their interests in our programme of camps. With the previous successes of Centra Summer Camps for young male participants, we felt it was time to let the girls show what they could do.”
Jennifer Barkley from Centra commented, “Centra and its independent retail partners across Northern Ireland are proud to support the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, as the partnership fits neatly into our programme of community sponsorships focusing on the health and well-being of young people.
