Say hello to breakfast, California-style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Preparation time: 45 mins<br \/>\nServes: 4<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">You\u2019ll need:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For the waffles:<br \/>\n300g spelt flour<br \/>\n1 \u00bd tsp baking powder<br \/>\nPinch of salt<br \/>\n\u00bc tsp bicarbonate of soda<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n170ml buttermilk<br \/>\n170ml milk<br \/>\n40ml honey<br \/>\n50g melted butter (plus extra for greasing)<br \/>\n60g California walnuts, toasted and chopped<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For the sauce:<br \/>\n1 tbsp coconut oil<br \/>\n1 tbsp walnut butter<br \/>\n30ml date syrup<br \/>\nPinch of salt<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">2 bananas, sliced<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Method<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">1. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and bicarbonate of soda into a large mixing bowl.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">2. Whisk the eggs in a jug along with the buttermilk, milk, honey and melted butter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">3. Whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until you have a smooth batter, and leave to rest for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">4. Grease your waffle iron liberally with butter, sprinkle in some of the chopped walnuts, and heat until hot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">5. Cook the batter in batches until all the batter is used up, keeping the waffles warm as you go.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">6. In a small saucepan gently heat the coconut oil, walnut butter and date syrup to form a sauce, then stir in a pinch of salt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">7.
