Don\u2019t blame others. There is little sympathy for a man who blames a woman \u2013 even when he thinks she pushed him into it. People will say, &#8220;You\u2019re the man. Why did you let it go on?&#8221; One of the meanings of the word &#8220;husband&#8221; is someone who skillfully manages his household. Managers take responsibility. \u201cDivorced women have said that if their husbands had understood these crucial truths, their marriages would not have disintegrated,&#8221; Katz says. \u201cWomen give the book to men and say, \u2018This is what I have been trying to tell you all this time.\u2019\u201d They ask, \u201cHow do I get him to read the book and show more leadership?\u201d Katz advises:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Get him to lead \u2013 Let him decide <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">If he asks you to make a decision, such as choosing between Restaurant A or Restaurant B, simply say: &#8220;You decide.&#8221; Then don&#8217;t say anything else.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201c<strong>Would you please handle it\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ask him to take charge of handling a problem, but don\u2019t tell him what to do. If he asks, say: \u201cYou decide. If you\u2019re not sure, do research. That\u2019s what I do.\u201d Avoid contradicting him unless what he wants to do is dangerous or damaging.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Encourage him<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tell him he made a good decision and how you appreciate when he takes charge and handles a problem.
