www.meantimebrewing.com\/blog\/2016\/12\/meantime-bespoke<\/a><\/p>\n \n FACEBOOK<\/a> | TWITTER<\/a> | INSTAGRAM<\/a><\/p>\n Meantime\u2019s Brewmaster Ciaran Giblin has developed a recipe for a personalised beer, by using his own DNA to scientifically map his personal taste preferences.<\/p>\n Inspired by Giblin\u2019s piece of personalised beer making, Meantime Brewing Company launch \u2018Meantime Bespoke\u2019 – an exclusive service that will allow members of the public to brew personalised beers based on their genetic code.<\/p>\n Offering the opportunity to fully customise all elements from start to finish, the \u00a325,000 service works alongside a world-class brewing team to bring their beer to life, Meantime Bespoke is the most unique and exclusive beer experience available anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n Available to members of the public the personalised package is a world\u2019s first in the field of uncompromisingly ultra-personalised craft beer.<\/p>\n Meantime\u2019s Brewmaster, Ciaran Giblin, has become the first brewer in history to brew a beer dictated by his own DNA – using cutting edge genetic profiling to map personal propensity to specific flavours.<\/p>\n Ciaran has recently brewed a small batch of a Double IPA with a strongly bitter flavour profile, matched to his genetic inclination toward bitter flavours and aversion to specific sweet foodstuffs.<\/p>\n Following the initial success of the DNA mapped brew, the craft brewer has today announced the launch of \u2018Meantime Bespoke\u2019, a one-of-a-kind service aimed at offering passionate craft beer fans the opportunity to brew the ultimate in personalised beer \u2013 using genetic profiling to individually tailor it to harmonise with their palate.<\/p>\n \n As part of the \u00a325,000 exclusive package, clients will have their DNA analysed by pioneering personal genetics company 23andMe to reveal the genetic variants that could explain personal preferences towards specific flavour profiles within beer such as sweetness and bitterness. Hereditary variations in a person\u2019s oral taste receptors (the TAS2R38 gene) will be used to help determine their perception and proclivity to sweet and bitter profiles, primarily based on the ability to detect propylthiouracil \u2013 a chemical similar to the bitter compounds found in cabbage, raw broccoli, coffee tonic water and certain dark beers.<\/p>\n Following analysis of an individual\u2019s genetic make-up via a saliva sample, Meantime\u2019s team of brewers will use the individual genetic insights as a basis to help inform the flavour profile of a personalised brew, before offering a one-to-one consultation with Meantime\u2019s Brewmaster to input on the creative process. With exclusive access to the state-of-the-art Pilot Brewery and onsite Meantime laboratory, Meantime Bespoke clients will also have the opportunity to get hands-on with the physical brewing process by adding hops, grain and testing the mix.<\/p>\n Receiving a minimum of 12 hectolitres of their unique brew \u2013 equivalent to over 2,000 pints \u2013 clients can also choose to name their tailor-made beer, working alongside Meantime\u2019s creative team to put their individual touches to the packaging design. With the opportunity to customise all elements of their beer from start to finish, and work alongside a world-class brewing team to bring their beer to life, Meantime Bespoke is one of the most unique and exclusive beer experience available anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n What\u2019s more, the package includes a study course, \u2018The Knowledge\u2019, to allow Meantime Bespoke clients to gain a deeper understanding of the brewing process. Some of the modules include: key ingredients of beer, evaluation of and faults in beer, how to taste beer and a session on world beer styles.<\/p>\n \n Once bottled, the brew will be hand-delivered to clients to drink as they wish.
