{"id":19218,"date":"2011-12-05T21:40:28","date_gmt":"2011-12-05T21:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=19218"},"modified":"2020-10-22T18:59:28","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T17:59:28","slug":"legends-christmas-fixture-report-perennials-rfc-i-xv-v-carrickfergus-select-legends-i-xv-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/legends-christmas-fixture-report-perennials-rfc-i-xv-v-carrickfergus-select-legends-i-xv-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Legends Christmas Fixture Report: Perennials RFC I XV v Carrickfergus Select Legends I XV: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At a bitterly cold Woodlawn, the Perennials\u00a0maintained there unbeaten record with a hard fought drwa at 6 tries a piece.<\/p>\n<p>A good turnout of players for our Christmas fixture contributed to a highly entertaining match that produced some great flowing and skillful rugby from both sides.<br \/>\nCLICK HERE FOR PICTURES v Belfast high School Former Pupils RFC Legends the same pictures that we failed to link to in the last report!<br \/>\nLate cry offs from our captain Michael O\u2019Reilly and vice captain Stewart (I\u2019ve pulled a hamstring) Porter did not deter the Perennials, who started strongly and built up a healthy 4 tries to 1 lead after the first session, with tries from Neil McConkey,\u00a0new recruit Dawn Thompson, Ulster, Ireland and TV pundit Maurice Field\u00a0and Peter Sandford.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurosportsdirect.com\/index.asp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9533\" title=\"Click Here For Eurosports Direct E-Commerce Website\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/eurosports.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"943\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Perennials\u00a0extended their lead in the second session to 6 tries to 2, with Simon Willis and John Rainey\u00a0crossing the line and looked to be heading for a comfortable victory.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of hot ports before the start of the final session obviously took its toll, as Carrick staged a great comeback adding 4 tries to tie the match.<\/p>\n<p>The game would have been beyond Carrick\u2019s reach had Peter Sandfords pass with a three man overlap not been judged forward by referee David Armstrong.\u00a0who was some 50 meters from the play ,when he blew for the forward pass.
