John Harvey McDonough, CEO of Speyside Distillery, says SPEY Chairman\u2019s Choice is a family tradition which stems back over 200 years. He explains, \u201cThe release means a lot to me and my family as it is a custom which began back in the late 1700s. John and Robert Harvey, the founders of the company, started it and we have continued it ever since.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe chairman of the company would pick the finest casks of whisky to share with his family on Christmas Day. The tradition is still going strong and my father, John, continues to select only the very best casks of whisky which are available in our warehouse.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnly a small amount of the Chairman\u2019s Choice expression is released each year, but it has quickly grown to be one of the best-selling bottles available from our range of single malts, which are all produced using time-honoured traditional techniques.\u201d<\/p>\n
With an ABV of 40%, SPEY Chairman\u2019s Choice has a delicate floral and fruity fragrance which is combined with hints of vanilla. Both bourbon and sherry casks are used to mature the whisky, which in turn produces a unique malt with full-bodied character.<\/p>\n
The overall taste of the single malt is of dried fruit, with a soft, nutty flavour, while the aftertaste presents woody sweetness mixed with a mild spice and soft dried fruit. The stunning bottle is encased within a dark wooden presentation case.<\/p>\n
