Monaghan had to show all their fighting qualities after a poor opening quarter of an hour saw them fall 14 points in arrears.<br \/>\nThe poor start could possibly be put down to too many changes having to be made, changes which saw the Farney men field 4 prop forwards. As a result Declan Savage (resplendently bedecked in Man City socks!!) packing down in the second row. Young John Connolly (1 for the future) got a run out at prop and accounted for himself well against a seasoned and grizzled campaigner from OPHIR. The scrum did take a while to settle and the home side took advantage of this by pushing the Monaghan pack back over their own line for the opening score of the game after only 4 minutes&#8230;&#8230;.
