{"id":1645,"date":"2010-05-03T13:38:05","date_gmt":"2010-05-03T12:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=1645"},"modified":"2010-05-25T21:49:17","modified_gmt":"2010-05-25T20:49:17","slug":"carrick-7s-day-3-abbey-ladies-10s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/carrick-7s-day-3-abbey-ladies-10s\/","title":{"rendered":"Carrick 7&#8217;s Day 3: Abbey Ladies 10&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Day 3 at Carrickfergus saw the Abbey Ladies 10&#8217;s take centre stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The competition saw a strong invitational Wooden Spoon Lionesses side together with teams\u00a0 from St Albans, Pontyclun and Tyne and Wear take on local sides Cooke, Belfast Harlequins, Carrick, City of Derry, Enniskillen and Queens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite a strong showing from the Lionesses it was Cooke that claimed the spoils in a thrilling second half display which saw them turn the table on their first round match to win by 7 &#8211; 5. As a  result of excellent performances in both \u00a0the semi-final and final,  Cooke&#8217;s  Liza Downey won the Newsletter Player of the Tournament award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The beaten   semi-finalists contested the Plate final with Welsh visitors Pontyclun  Falcons  beating City of Derry. (This despite accounting for a good part of the  increased  Bar take!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Bowl was won by OA Albans who beat Enniskillen in the  final.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The presentations\u00a0 on Sunday were made by the Mayor of  Carrickfergus  Borough, Alderman Patricia McKinney who also presented a cheque from the proceeds of the Sevens to the Wooden Spoon charity which supports  disadvantaged  children in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day 3 at Carrickfergus saw the Abbey Ladies 10&#8217;s take centre stage.
