{"id":16164,"date":"2011-09-18T17:59:54","date_gmt":"2011-09-18T17:59:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/?p=16164"},"modified":"2011-09-18T17:59:54","modified_gmt":"2011-09-18T17:59:54","slug":"dungannon-rugby-club-i-xv-34-v-queens-university-rugby-club-i-xv-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/dungannon-rugby-club-i-xv-34-v-queens-university-rugby-club-i-xv-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Dungannon Rugby Club I XV 34 v Queens University Rugby Club I XV 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was a typical Dungannon Queen\u2019s Ulster League match, Dungannon got<br \/>\ntheir win and the bonus point but they had to wait until the final quarter<br \/>\nto achieve dominance.<br \/>\nDungannon started well with Michael Lawton converting penalties on five and<br \/>\nten minutes.<br \/>\n6 \u2013 0<br \/>\nQueen\u2019s responded with a James McKinney penalty on fifteen minutes.<br \/>\n6 \u2013 3<br \/>\nThe weather was good, the afternoon was primed for a feast of rugby with<br \/>\nboth sides keen to move the ball about but unfortunately the game never got<br \/>\ngoing; the proceedings were punctuated by minor infringements. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurosportsdirect.com\/index.asp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9533\" title=\"Click Here For Eurosports Direct E-Commerce Website\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intouchrugby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/eurosports.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"943\" \/><\/a>After<br \/>\ntwenty-five minutes following some good work by the Dungannon pack the first<br \/>\ntry was scored when Ben Howard was driven over with Michael Lawton kicking<br \/>\nthe conversion.<br \/>\n13 \u2013 3<br \/>\nThe second half was disrupted early on by two unnecessary yellow cards in<br \/>\nthe first and second minutes. Gannon got moving again but Queen\u2019s stopped<br \/>\na dangerous Dungannon attack and broke out of defence to score a good try<br \/>\nwhen Stuart McIlwaine finished off the counter attack on fifty minutes.<br \/>\nJames McKinney converted.<br \/>\n13 \u2013 10<br \/>\nThe game was very scrappy for the next ten minutes then Dungannon got into<br \/>\ntheir stride again. On sixty-eight minutes Dungannon moved the ball at pace<br \/>\nwith good running from Rowan Halsall, Timothy Smith with the white booted<br \/>\nDuhig sending Stuart McCloskey through. The big fellow finished the try off<br \/>\nwith a neat change of pace that took him over behind the posts. Michael<br \/>\nLawton converted.<br \/>\n20 \u2013 10<br \/>\nFollowing good work by Ali Birch and Rowan Halsall Dungannon gained great<br \/>\nfield position from where Timothy Smith kept his head and scored the try.<br \/>\nStuart McCloskey kicked a good conversion on seventy minutes.<br \/>\n27 \u2013 10<br \/>\nDungannon continued to press and deservedly got their fourth try when Jason<br \/>\nBloomfield sent Stuart McCloskey searing through in the final minute for the<br \/>\nbonus point score. Stuart also added the extras.<br \/>\n34 \u2013 10<br \/>\nOverall a game that did not fulfil its potential but Dungannon gained a<br \/>\nmaximum five points; who can ask for anything more.<br \/>\nPrior to the opening AIL game on 1 October we travel to Eaton Park next<br \/>\nSaturday to play a double header against Ballymena for the Ulster League<br \/>\npoints and the weather postponed 2010 Jack Kyle Cup. <\/p>\n<p>Team: Christopher Cochrane.
