City of Armagh had lost to Rainey last time out and had only posted one victory in 2016. The Derry team had also recorded two comfortable wins against Armagh earlier in the season.\u00a0Armagh\u2019s\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">out-half, Harry Boyd then kicked the conversion giving Armagh a dream start 7 nil up after 5 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The\u00a0\u2018Derry outhalf, Neil Burns, was also on form as he landed two penalties in quick succession to\u00a0narrow the score to 7-6. The Armagh forward were winning good possession and putting the visitors under pressure. A further penalty from Boyd extended Armagh\u2019s lead to 10-6. Good defensive play from the home team kept the visitors at bay and two further penalties were kicked by Harry Boyd to give Armagh a deserved 16 \u2013 6 lead as half time approached.\u00a0Despite further chances Armagh failed to score a second try and the half time whistle went with the home spectators delighted by that first half performance which showed real passion and commitment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">City of Derry started the second half in determined fashion with Richard McCarter now on at outhalf, keen to spread the ball at every opportunity. The Armagh backline was stretched at times and good covering tackling prevented the visitors from scoring. The pressure did pay off for the visitors however and winger Logue scored a soft try under the Armagh posts. The\u00a0conversion closed the score to 16-13 and this try seemed to inspire the visitors\u00a0who stepped up the pressure on Armagh. With the lead now at only three\u00a0points the tension around the big crowd of spectators was nothing short of\u00a0electric. Harry Boyd eased the pressure momentarily when he landed another\u00a0penalty to bring the score to 19-13. This was only short-lived as Derry were\u00a0awarded\u00a0a penalty thirty metres in front of the Armagh posts. Strangely they kicked into the corner and the magnificent Armagh forwards turned over possession. In the final minute Derry had a further chance to score when their winger sprinted towards the\u00a0 corner\u00a0 only to be tacked by Josh Morton who had returned to the game. A penalty for not releasing the ball allowed Armagh to kick the ball out and the final whistle went with Armagh victorious by 19 points to 16.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This was arguably Armagh best performance of the season in defeating, Derry,\u00a0 the current league leaders. The result delighted the coaching staff who praised the commitment and passion every player on the pitch showed.
