They elected for a penalty<br \/>\nlineout and a great twenty metre drive from the pack brought Mark Farquhar a<br \/>\ntry in the tenth minute. Then another promising Inst attack was covered<br \/>\nby Jason Bloomfield. On seventeen minutes the Inst pressure paid off when<br \/>\nHugh Flanigan sent Chris Henderson over for a try. Nicky Finlay converted to<br \/>\nclose the gap to two points.<br \/>\n10 \u2013 12<br \/>\nDungannon were dominating and a Paul McKenzie break looked dangerous,<br \/>\nalthough Mark O\u2019Shea overran the ball carrier Paul Magee was on hand to<br \/>\nlink and slip the ball to Michael Lawton who powered away for a try on<br \/>\ntwenty-five minutes.<br \/>\n10 \u2013 17<br \/>\nGreat work from O\u2019Shea and Lawton brought play from the Dungannon<br \/>\ntwenty-two into the Inst twenty-two, the recycled ball looked dangerous but<br \/>\nInst managed to crowd the Gannon attack out of play. However Inst conceded a<br \/>\npenalty that Michael Lawton dispatched.<br \/>\n10 \u2013 20<br \/>\nWith half time approaching Dungannon needed to convert their dominance into<br \/>\npoints. Thankfully on thirty minutes, following good work by Michael Lawton<br \/>\nand Glen Sinnamon, Paul McKenzie raced in from twenty metres out. Lawton<br \/>\nadded the extras.<br \/>\n10 \u2013 27<br \/>\nThree minutes into the second half Mark O\u2019Shea put some purpose into a<br \/>\nDungannon attack as he danced through the Inst defence and sent Stuart<br \/>\nMcCloskey away for a score.<br \/>\n10 \u2013 32<br \/>\nOn fifty minutes Mark O\u2019Shea got his reward when he took a pass from Jason<br \/>\nBloomfield on the ten metre line and powered through the Inst defence for<br \/>\nthe try of the match. Stuart McCloskey converted.<br \/>\n10 &#8211; 39<br \/>\nOn the hour mark Inst tried to break out of defence but fumbled the ball,<br \/>\nthe quicksilver Bloomfield gathered and sprinted over for a try. Stuart<br \/>\nMcCloskey converted.<br \/>\n10 &#8211; 46<br \/>\nDungannon then had a wake up call when they made a hash of the restart,<br \/>\nfortunately Stuart McCloskey showed great strength to regain possession and<br \/>\nthwart Inst\u2019s attack. Paul McKenzie broke out of defence and passed to<br \/>\nKieran Campbell who very swiftly slipped the ball to Rowan Halsall. Rowan<br \/>\nbrought play into the Inst half but without support the move broke down.<br \/>\nHowever from a quick scrum Bloomfield fed David Egner. The flying winger<br \/>\nraced away for his first try in the blue and white on sixty-five minutes.<br \/>\n10 \u2013 51<br \/>\nOn sixty-five minutes Richard Fegan got reward for his efforts when he raced<br \/>\nthrough a gap to score for Inst, Nicky Finlay converted.<br \/>\n17 \u2013 51.<br \/>\nGood work from Jaryd Bennett brought play into the Instonians twenty-two.<br \/>\nAlthough Inst gained possession they fumbled the ball and when Stuart<br \/>\nMcCloskey was held Derek Hall was on hand to take the ball over for the last<br \/>\ntry of the match in the seventy-second minute. McCloskey converted.<br \/>\n17 &#8211; 58 <\/p>\n<p>A good opening performance by Dungannon with the entire squad contributing<br \/>\nto the win. Scrums were good, Paul McCarroll provided a good lineout and<br \/>\nCraig Miller was the unsung worker in the pack. The back row was excellent.<br \/>\nJason Bloomfield was hungry and the backs were impressive with newcomers,<br \/>\nJaryd Bennett, Paul McKenzie, David Egner and Mark O\u2019Shea playing a<br \/>\nsignificant part in the win. <\/p>\n<p>Next Saturday we are at home to Malone and Justin Fitzpatrick emphasised<br \/>\nthat we must look ahead. \u201cThe win over Inst is history now, Malone always<br \/>\ngive us a difficult game and they will be smarting after being beaten by<br \/>\nQuins. We have a talented squad, and that is what it is, a squad. It is a<br \/>\nlong season and we shall need everybody to contribute over the next eight<br \/>\nplus months if we are to retain our Ulster titles and go one better in the<br \/>\nAll Ireland competitions.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Team: Mark O\u2019Shea.
