UK’s First Ever Disabled Strongman Event Launches<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first-ever Disabled Strongman event is to take place Saturday 29th<\/sup> August at the Northwood Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent. Devised by UK Disabled Strongman Gary Clarke, the event will be officiated by\u00a0Four-times world’s strongest man, <\/span>Magn\u00fas Ver Magn\u00fasson. The Impey Showers sponsored event<\/span> will see competitors compete to win the <\/span>Arnar mar Jonnson<\/span> trophy.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Inspired by the World’s Strongest Disabled Man event created by\u00a0<\/span>Magn\u00fas Ver Magn\u00fasson and Arnar M\u00e1r J\u00f3nsson.\u00a0<\/span>The event is supported by 2 times winner of Britain’s Strongest Man, Laurence Shahlaei<\/strong>, hosted by renowned <\/span>Strongman MC, Les Wilson<\/strong>, and will be judged by 4 time world strongest man, <\/span>Magn\u00fas Ver Magn\u00fasson.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Competitors will undertake\u00a0<\/span>Six individual disciplines including truck pulling, weight lifting and endurance during the event which is being held at the Northwood Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent from 11.30 – 3.30pm. \u00a0<\/span>Founder<\/span> Gary Clarke 37 from Somerset<\/span><\/strong>, began devising his own event after noticing a distinct lack of disabled strongman events in the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>“I’ve competed in disabled strongman competitions around the world for a number of years and was always disappointed that, even after the Paralympics, there was nothing like this at home. Last year <\/span>Magn\u00fas Ver Magn\u00fasson<\/span><\/strong>, four-time World Strongest Man winner, said I should bring the event to the UK, and here we are.<\/p>\n

“It has been a lot of hard work, but it will hopefully be worth it when we raise the profile of disabled strongman competitions in the UK.”<\/p>\n

Neil Whitehead, Brand Manager at Impey Showers<\/strong>, said:<\/p>\n

“We have sponsored Gary’s strongman efforts around the world for a number of years, and knew that we wanted to be involved in bringing this great event to the UK. We want to help Gary raise the profile of disabled strongman in Britain and this is a great first step in doing so.<\/p>\n

“Impey is committed to supporting disabled people live normal lives. Whether this being installing wet rooms into homes that have been refused DFG or adapting changing facilities in a sports centre to cater for the less abled, we believe in giving everyone the right to independent living.”<\/p>\n
