Ever wanted to play Rugby?

Well now you can!

Virginia Rugby Club are running training sessions every Wednesday all summer for men!
The aim of these sessions is to equip budding rugby players with all the skills and knowledge necessary to play! We’re hoping to recruit as many rugby virgins as possible! So it doesn’t matter if your a 20 stone monster or a 8 stone speed merchant… we want you! Thats the beauty of rugby, there is a position for everyone!

Training will be very light, focussing on the basics; passing to punting, scrummaging to side-stepping, line-outs, tackling, rucking, mauling and everything in between!
Every training will be finished by a big game of touch rugby and we hope to enter a number of touch rugby tournaments throughout the summer, depending on numbers!

So why rugby?

*FITNESS
Rugby is obviously a very physical sport and is excellent for getting you into shape, toughening you up and staying in shape for the winter months!

*SOCIAL LIFE
Our social life is important to us! The rugby clubhouse itself our main hub, where we will be holding many fundraisers and theme nights throughout the year; from mock weddings to trips away…. There’s always something on! It’s worth noting that EVERY rugby club has its own bar 🙂

*UNDERSTAND THE SPORT
Lets face it, Irish rugby is expanding dramatically. The successes of Leinster, Munster, Ulster and of course Ireland themselves have been the source of many a cheer the past few years. This is your chance to completely understand the game your already watching and truely appreciate our international athletes.

* MEET NEW PEOPLE
There’s only 2 rugby clubs in County Cavan. This means here in Virginia we cover a huge catchment area taking in most of Cavan, Meath and even Westmeath. You get the idea!

So come down any Wednesday it suits! Bring shorts, boots and runners and you’ll be guarunteed to have the craic!
