The Willie John McBride & Ronnie Lamont Seal Of Approval: Windrose Marina Restaurant Carrickfergus

Simply Excellent.

The Windrose comes highly recommended from these two legends and we can only agree wholeheartedly.

The Marina restaurant is situated on the 1st floor of The Windrose in Carickfergus Marina and has fantastic views over the Marina with its neatly moored yachts adding to a seaside feel.

We all commented on how busy the restaurant but as the meal progressed and the surroundings were surpassed by the gorgeous food and excellent wine list the reason was obvious – This is very, very good food.

Combined with the incisive and wise comments of two rugby legends who have seen it all their insights into the game were awesome.

Both Ronnie and Willie John are thoroughly enjoying the recent Ulster victories and look forward to a resurgance of rugby in the province at all levels. Of course at club level they have slightly different allegiances who are right in the thick of current campaigns.

Willie John is an O’Gara fan – and he proved decisive in Sundays victory over Scotland.

Willie John & Ronnie were joined by their very glamorous wives Penny & Rosie.

A fantastic evening, with delicious food and wine. The Windrose was top notch in all respects and we would all thoroughly recommend it.

Ronnie something of a cook himself made particular reference to the Monkfish which he said he had rarely tasted such a lovely dish and perfectly prepared. He was particularly impressed by the combination of Monkfish & Pork.

Willie john also commented on the combinatipon of Pork Belly & Squid in his started referring to it as “delicious”

Every part of the mealk was perfectly prepared with the finest ingredients. The steak was amongst the best we have ever tasted, aged very well.

With the up coming Carrick 7s in our thoughts we would thoroughly recommend The Windrose.
