Taggers and Ulster Players Strut Their Stuff

Newforge Taggers PRO Ted Hall brings us up to date on the Taggers recent fashion night.

“Thursday the 22nd of April 2010 Newforge Country Club was the venue for the Newforge Taggers Charity Fashion in Conjunction with Marks and Spencer Forestside. Such was the success of last year’s event it was decided to hold the fashion show in a fabulous Marquee and what a venue it was.

When the organising committee sat down our only reservation was whether or not we would get the numbers for the Marquee how wrong we were when over 330 guests packed into the Marquee, and what a wonderful night was had by all. Ivan Martin compared the evening introducing the Marks and Spencer staff who were models for the evening, modelling the very latest fashions for M&S.

The night was made all the more special when five of the Ulster players assisted in the modelling Ryan Caldwell, Isaac Boss Taggers club patron, Paddy Wallace, Tom Court and Simon Danielli, they not only modelled but stayed behind to sign autographs and have photographs taken, a real credit to Ulster rugby. But I think even they would agree that they and the rest of the models were upstaged by our very own Taggers players who brought the house down with their unique modelling style.

The whole object of the evening was as a fund raiser for the Taggers upcoming tour to Swansea and I am pleased to say that over £4000 was raised on the evening a fantastic amount, but this came about by the amazing generosity by so many, indeed over £2500 of prizes were donated by numerous people too many to mention individually but a big Taggers thank you to them all.

Marks and Spencer Manager Lee Cutler and all his staff deserve a special mention as without Marks and Spencer’s generosity and the staff giving of their own time this event would not have taken place. So thank you, and off course Jayne and all her staff at Newforge.

I would be typing all evening thanking everybody for their contribution to the evening but they all know who they are. I may sound slightly repetitive but the Taggers really do go from strength to strength the main reason behind that is because of the people who turn up to these events and give of their support without you we would not be able to hold these events so thank you.”
