It was deja-vu for Clogher Valley 3rds as they headed back to Mellon Park for this League game. Last week Valley claimed a 31-22 victory at Omagh in the McCambley Cup. This week was to be a closer encounter in the league with Valley edging it by just one point.

Valley win at Dee 12-7 by Bob Beatty

Clogher Valley ultimately made hard work, but ended up the deserved winners, of their Qualifying One league match with Donaghadee at Donaldson Park.

Fielding a side missing seven regulars Valley began brightly, playing both against the wind and up the slope, against a Donaghadee side full of confidence from their win against CIYMS the previous week. A quick penalty by Stott on 4 minutes produced 25 yards of go-forward ball and was the catalyst for a fluid and confident approach by the Valley. With Holme busily running the game on the gainline and Sharkey and Falconer testing the home defence it was all Valley in the first quarter.
