Qualifiying League Section 3
Limavady 81 Letterkenny 0
From the 3rd minute when Stewart Roddy crossed the whitewash for the first of his five tries, the result was never in doubt. It was just a matter of what the final score would be. Last season Letterkenny plied their trade in Qualifiying 4, and due to some tinkering with the league set up, now find themselves in Section 3 with section 4 no longer in operation.
But there was still a game of the rugby to be played, and more importantly, a game of rugby to win. The home crowd didn’t have long t wait for try number two. On 9 minutes Sam Mackey made a break, and following great support play from McIlmoyle and Lamberton, Roddy touched down for try number two. Peter Wilson took over the kicking duties and landed the first of his successful five first half conversions. The best try of the half arrived on 19 minutes. A move that started deep in their own half with Luke Faulkner kicking long down the right hand side. Full back Peter Wilson led the chase who moved the ball on to Matty Haslett who unselfishly passed to Luke Faulkner, and the man who started the move had the simple task of finishing it off for a wonderful team score.
Centre Robert Lamberton got the fourth try of the day and with it the all-important bonus point. There was still time left in the half for out half Luke Faulkner and 1st centre Jamie Mo. Miller to touchdown and at the break the scoreboard read, Limavady 40 Letterkenny 0.
The message at half time was to keep concentrations levels high and the penalty count low. Last at Coleraine the middle quarter of the game was poor from the Roesiders as they allowed their intensity to drop, thus allowing the opposition a way back into the game. But that was not to be the case this week as full back Peter Wilson got the first two try’s of the 2nd half by the 46th minute. In total, seven tries were run in during the 2nd half to the six in the 1st. As well as kicking eight conversions, Peter Wilson helped himself to a hatrick of tries, while last weeks hatrick hero Stewart Roddy went a wee bit better and grabbed himself five. Including one which came from an outrageous Sonny Bill Williams style off load from prop Adam McIlmoyle.

The seconds lost their unbeaten start to the season when they went down to Academy 2nds at Mullask. A lack of discipline costing them dear in a 31-19 defeat.
Next weeks fixtures see the 1st XV travel to Stormant to play Civil Service, while the 2nds will host Queens 3rds. Both games kick off at 2.30pm.
