The story so far…

Jeannett & Susie, are the creative partnership behind One & Eight. For a number of years they have been designing and producing Porcelain Ceramics, initially tableware pieces but more recently they have added a Jewellery line. Design and creation takes place in their South Devon studio.

Inspiration –
comes from their beautiful & ever changing coastal surroundings and the smooth tactile nature of the stones and driftwood found on their local beaches.

The Tableware –
their initial aim was to produce a set of simple yet elegant tableware. They slip caste the pieces (as they found they ween’t too good at throwing) and add black stain, in varying amounts to achieve the subtle shades of grey. They are finished with a clear glaze. Mix the pieces or go for one shade, it’s up to you.
Oh, and the name…. if you were wondering. One & Eight is Cockney rhyming slang for plate. To their amusement they have found it very difficult to produce a plate but hey presto, they achieved the perfect plate yesterday. Only a couple of years in the making!!!

The Jewellery –
Each piece of porcelain jewellery is made by hand so is unique in its form and size. It is glazed and fired before adding colour to the surface using individually designed ceramic transfers. The items are assembled using high quality metalware to create simple, stylish Jewellery that is easy to wear and perfect for any occasion.
