A great turn out by the under 13 squad

A great turn out by the under 13 squad gave the coaches the difficult task of ensuring all 27 players got some action this morning at the Thomas Mellon Playing Fields against a well turned out Enniskillen team.

The Omagh team got off to a flying start utilising the rucking practice from Wednesday evening with good controlled forward play and quick second phase ball, culminating in two excellent forwards tries. The first by loose head Philip Ewing and the second a debutant try for Stephen Gibson playing second row.

A couple of missed tackles then resulted in a breakaway try from Enniskillen’s outside centre under Omagh’s posts this was converted and lifted Enniskillen for the remainder of the half scoring another try just before half time.

The sun in their eyes for the second half Omagh following good secured rucked ball from the kick off spread the ball wide and a try from man of the match Scott Ballantine who sped over the line leaving the opposition in his wake. A justified reward for his committed defence and spoiling of Enniskillen possession in the first half
Dylan Thompson who came on at half time then had two tries one under the posts following a splendid solo run up the wing and another this time poaching off the back of a 5 yard scrum.

A lack of match fitness started to show in the Accies ranks resulting in some loose and scrappy play. Enniskillen raised their own game at this point and two converted tries quickly followed.
Omagh dug in deep and forced their way to the Enniskillen line once again. Following two phases of quick rucked ball Taine Lagan ever the sniper darted over the line to score the last try of the day which was excellently converted by Kyle Walker.

Good resolute defence kept Enniskillen out for the remainder of the match and a final score of 34-26 in favour of the home side.
Wednesday Evening training is where all is put it together both in fitness and skills and this showed in Omaghs performance on saturday. Well done for a good spirited performance by all the Omagh players.

The 4th team had a fine win over a srong Portadown outfit

Early pressure was nullified by the strong Omagh defence and this led to scores from Andrew Fergson at corner and full back Peter Campbell entering line at speed to score.Neither try converted

Omagh dominated the second half due in no small measure to pressence of theit experienced forwards
Tries flowed fom the debutant Colin Lee(20,J.Elkin and skipper Mark Neill. S.Ward kicked 2 conversions leaving Omagh the winners by 34-0

Good all round performance fro a team consisting of youth and experience
