 Nutty Krust U18 Tournament 2016

The 37th Nutty Krust Rugby Tournament was launched in Portadown Rugby Club on Tuesday 12th January. This season has seen nine teams enter and the organisers have decided to schedule the opening series of game on a group basis. This will ensure each team will play at least two games in the tournament.

The draw was made by Br Bobby Stewart, President of the Ulster Branch and key member of the Nutty Krust Committee and My Brian Irwin, Chairman of the Sponsors, Irwin’s Bakery.

The first three teams drawn will be team 1 in each of the groups A-C

The next three teams drawn will be team 2 in each of the groups A-C

The final three teams drawn will be team 3 in each of the groups A-C

The order of the games will be 1 v 2, 2 v 3 and 1 v 3 in each of the groups starting with group A 1 v 2 then group B 1 v 2 then group C 1 v 2. The tournament will start on Wednesday 27th January with the first group A game.

The winners of each group, plus the highest placed group runner-up will qualify for the semi-finals. A fresh draw for the semi-finals will be made when all qualifying teams are known.

A detailed list of criteria will be drawn up to show how each team can score points and show how the highest placed runners up spot will be decided. A win will equate to four points and try bonus points can be achieved as can losing bonus points. The emphasis will be on enjoyment and encouraging attacking play.
