Protein Powder to Build and Protect Muscle
Protein smoothies are a great way to supplement your daily protein intake, as long as they are unsweetened. I offer a protein powder on my site that combines two sources of protein: whey and casein. Whey contains particularly high levels of the amino acid leucine, which stimulates the protein synthesis that protects lean muscle tissue, thus keeping the basal metabolic rate at an optimal speed. Casein, on the other hand, digests slowly, over the course of several hours, to keep blood sugar steady and keep us feeling full longer.
Swapping out a meal for a high protein smoothie accelerates weight loss, encourages the body to tap into excess fat for energy, and guards lean muscle mass.
