What a fantatic weekend at Terenure 13’s International Rugby Festival. Lurgan beat Cobh 75-0, Gorey (the Leinster U13 league and cup finalists) 40-0 and St Marys 55-0 to finish day 1 as the top ranked side out of the 20 teams. Unfortunately the only 8 points conceeded all weekend were enough to put us out 8-7 to UL Bohs in the quarter final. Huge credit to the boys for picking themselves up after that defeat.
The pain was evident to see in many of the boys faces as they were being talked about as potential winners and they know they didn’t perform. They showed courage and determination to beat Bective 24-0 and Wilmslow (England) 22-0 immediately afterwards to claim 5th place. The tournament was won by an excellent French side.
On Friday night a lot of people were asking “where’s Lurgan”, by today lunchtime they knew. The boys did themselves and the club proud over the weekend.
