“Lucho Dillitos” is Colombia’s answer to sports nutrition and energy gels, rolled in to one.

So what is this Mythical Colombian food? Bocadillo is Colombia’s original power bar.

It is small and packable, and traditionally comes wrapped in a dry leaf. Consequently this is 100% natural and bio-degradable, leaving no trace on the road side or mountain. Unlike all these other sports nutrition packages … appealing to the sportsman who appreciates his surroundings, and does not want to leave a carbon footprint behind once he has left the scene.

Back in the 1980’s the first Colombian cycling teams competing at the Tour de France and other big European races raced with Bocadillo in their back pockets.
Bocodillo is made of guava paste, it’s sweet, provides carbohydrates and vitamins and is easy to carry.

There are tales of Colombian cyclists going up mountains at their first Tour de France, going past seasoned European Professional cyclists, who could not believe their eyes.

Luis “Lucho” Herrera won the famous “polka dot” climbers jersey in 1985 Tour de France, The 1st from a non-European country, and again in 1987, he won the climbers Jersey too in all 3 Grand Tours [France, Italy and Spain], one of only 2 people to do so… powered by… Boccadillo, you guessed it.
