Keep A Spring In Your Step This Marathon Season!

Keep A Spring In Your Step This Marathon Season!

Running a marathon is hard enough without letting foot pain, blisters or sweaty feet get in the way. Don’t let these things stop you from getting to that finish line this spring.

Whether you’re the next Mo Farah or just starting to get used to your new trainers, here’s our spring running guide to make sure you get the most out of the warm weather!

Say no to foot odour!

Suffering from foot odour? Experts say that this can become even worse when you are running on a daily basis. The odour is produced by bacteria that grow in the shoes and attach itself to the skin. When the bacteria eat away a layer of the skin, this can produce a very nasty odour.

To make sure these foul bacteria do not prey on your feet, try the Carnation Shoe Deodoriser Pouches (£4.99, www.firstaidfast.co.uk), WEBSITE). Just slip them into your shoes and the Moso Bamboo Charcoal will eliminate odour and reduce moisture leaving you feet that smell and feel fresh.

Keep Blisters at bay

New trainers and running may cause very painful blisters that can hinder your training progress.

To prevent those painful blisters, try the Carnation Anti-Blister Stick (£4.15, www.firstaidfast.co.uk), which can stop them in their tracks. This is a long-lasting, invisible and non-greasy balm that shields your feet and stops them from rubbing.

Dave Wain, Podiatrist at Carnation Footcare, explains, “The Anti-Blister Stick is designed to ease friction immediately and prevent blister development by providing an extra layer to the affected area, enabling you to keep going – pain free!”

And if you’ve already got a blister, that’s not an excuse! Try Carnation’s Hydro Blister (£2.10, www.firstaidfast.co.uk), which protects the blister, provides pain relief and stops any further damage!

Sooth Your Skin

As the weather warms up for spring, running outside means you are more likely to sweat. This season, instead of using a thick moisturiser, which may clog your pores, go for a lighter lotion.

Try the Soothing Skin Gel by What Skin Needs (£14.99, whatskinneeds.co.uk), which absorbs immediately and provides long –term hydration, leaving your skin feeling supple.

Dr Roger Henderson, GP with a special interest in dermatology, explains, “The Soothing Skin Gel contains Plantolin – this has healing and soothing properties and can help rehydrate and rebalance dry and scaly skin, without leaving any greasy residue.”
