The match in Musgrave Park featured, a road journey 250 miles each way, over-priced motorway food, extortionate motorway tolls, rain that soaked through the best of waterproofs. A travelling time of at least 4 hours each way. Was it worth it for a losing bonus point? Of course, it was just to witness the total commitment of the young Armagh side.

The consensus of the Armagh travelling supporters was that the welcome extended to them by the Sunday’s Well club has seldom been surpassed. This welcome must be reflected in that extended to all visitors to The Palace Grounds.

Armagh had scored all their points by the sixth minute of the game. They failed to score any more points after this despite all their efforts.

The Sunday’s Well team featured a unique number of brothers. The complete front row were three brothers! As were the brothers Dwyer at numbers 12 & 9. Also the brothers Horgan at numbers 13 & 5.

Musgrave Park pitch is shared between Sunday’s Well RFC and Dolphin RFC.

Sunday’s Well have held a mid table position in the AIB All Ireland League section 3 for approx nine seasons. They even ventured into league for a couple of seasons. With this in mind Armagh’s losing single bonus point earned in their inaugural fixture in horrible conditions & in the heart of Munster begins to look all the more worthy when looked at in this context.
