IRB Titles for Argentina Jaguars, Emerging Ireland, Japan and Samoa

The Argentina Jaguars have won the IRB Tbilisi Cup 2014 in style following a 41-7 victory over Spain on Sunday in the final round of matches.

The Argentinians scored five tries to one but found the second half challenging as the courageous Spanish fought back well to finish the tournament on a positive note.

Georgia claimed second place in the final standings after defeating Emerging Italy 34-10 in a convincing display in the Georgian capital.

Meanwhile Emerging Ireland capped a fine IRB Nations Cup 2014 campaign, defeating hosts 31-10 in Bucharest to complete a hat-trick of victories and lift the trophy.

In a match that could replicate the Rugby World Cup 2015 Repechage later this year, Uruguay claimed an important 6-13 victory over Russia to claim third place behind Romania and ahead of Russia in the final standings.

Meanwhile USA recorded their first win over Canada since 2009, to end their IRB Pacific Nations Cup Americas conference campaign on a high.

There was little to separate the two teams in a thrilling match that ended 38-35 to confirm second place in the standings behind champions Japan, who continued their impressive form with a Test match victory over Italy in Tokyo.

Samoa made sure of the Pacific Conference title with a 13-18 victory over Fiji in Suva on Saturday.

The result confirmed Fiji’s second place finish in the standings, while Tonga finished third.
