Enniskillen RFC Notes: I XV 22 v Lisburn RFC I XV 5

Enniskillen finished their season with a 22 – 5 home win over a spirited Lisburn team at Mullaghmeen last Friday night in a game that was played in good conditions and was very competitive from the start. As a end of season finale, both sides took the opportunity to include some under-19 players and for ‘Skins
Daly, Wilson and McCrabbe fully justified their selection. The opening period was even as both sides sought to move the ball. Enniskillen had more possession, butplaying against the wind found it difficult to make it count. A period of pressure from ‘Skins saw them
camped on the Lisburn line, but a relieving penalty saw Lisburn bring play into the ‘Skins half and take the lead with a try following a few missed tackles.
Although the home side suffered from a high penalty count inflicted by the ever vigilant referee, there was much to admire in their first half endeavours.
‘Skins upped their efforts in the second half and used the wind to keep Lisburn pinned back. Some strong running by both forwards and backs stretched the Lisburn line and tries followed from Jason Wilson, twice, and Jamie Johnston. Finlay kicked a penalty and converted two of the tries to round off the scoring.
All in all it was a very good workout for new captain Ricky Connor and his team and thanks must go to Lisburn for travelling down on a Friday evening to fulfil the fixture.
