Dungannon RFC Notes: II XV 15 v Queen’s RFC II XV 12

Dungannon performed better with the elements in the first half , Queen’s came back strongly but failed to close the gap as Gannon ran out 15-12 winners.
Dungannon opened the scoring after three minutes when Plunkett McCallon burst through from outside the twenty-two to touch down beside the posts. Surprisingly the reliable Plunkett missed the conversion.

After eleven minutes good work by the pack paved the way for a Charlie Sargaison try.

With halftime approaching flanker Jonny Gordon was more alert than his opponents as he collected the bouncing ball in goal and touched down.
15 – 0
Queen’s came into the game more and on fifty-one minutes centre Yannis McNeill scored on the left.
15 – 5
After seventy minutes Queen’s got the points from players with a Dungannon connection. The try scorer was a player who won the Everest Trophy with Dungannon at the2008 Carrick Sevens, Yamika Manga and the try was converted by Scott Simpson brother of Ben.
15 – 12
With Stuart McKenzie and Richard Holmes using their experience to close the game down Dungannon were the deserved winners. It was also good to see Jake Finlay and Jonny Gordon making their home debuts in the blue and white.
This puts the IIs into third equal place with Ballynahinch, Malone and Instonians in the 2 XV League. We need a win in our final League game to make third place our own.
