A fantastic day of rugby and fun for all the family. Donaghadee played rugby host on Saturday past to two invitation sides, Suttonians Rugby Club & Letterkenny Rugby Club. What was amazing to see was the club taking the opportunity to invite their club members and the local community to visit the club and enjoy the rugby, a fine BBQ & bouncy castle for the children; all making for an excellent day. The sun shone all day and in fine rugby tradition the rugby was fierce and the BBQ & fun afterwards was that of friends in rugby celebrating the beginning of a new season.
The teams were invited as a result of playing connections over the years, with Donaghadee players connected to both Suttonians currently & Letterkenny in the not to distant past.
The rugby was superb with Letterkenny ~ Gordon West Cup champions & Suttonians AIL Rugby club taking on Donaghadee in a series of games played with 20 minute halfs. Donaghadee I & II XV were superb in their handling of both teams. It would be a fair comment to say that the three sides benefited greatly from this pre season event as well as the team bonding aspect for the two visiting sides.

Donaghadee are entering Qualifying 1 rugby and there is a real sense of participation in the club amongst so many supporters, keen to put all the pre season training under the coaching of Ian Martindale to good use.
They certainly did that and acquitted themselves very well against all the opposition.
