DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING AT CARRICK RUGBY CLUB

On Tuesday evening, members from local sports clubs and schools gathered at Carrickfergus Rugby Football Club for training in Defibrillation and resuscitation, which was organised as part of the CROP scheme – the CRFC Rugby Outreach Programme.

The CROP Programme is part financed by the EU’s PEACE III Programme, managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the CAN Peace III Partnership.

The training in Defibrillation and resuscitation was delivered by Adam Hanna, an Advanced Life Support Instructor.

The course content covered a reminder of basic life support and safe use of the defibrillator.

Commenting on the evening CRFC Community Rugby Officer Michael Dickson said:

“Training like this is absolutely essential, especially with the number of sudden deaths there have been throughout the different sporting codes. This evenings training was made possible by the funding we received from Peace III and we were delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to members of other clubs and schools. We hope to run further courses in the near future.”
