Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 3rd October 2026.
On Wednesday 30th September, a number of the next series of Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Cup and Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Shield games took place.
In Section A of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Cup, Ballymena Academy played Wallace High School and Methodist College, Belfast played Omagh Academy.
The Section A scores were Ballymena Academy 14 Wallace High School 15 and Methodist College, Belfast 12 Omagh Academy 19.
In Section B of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Cup, Campbell College, Belfast played Sullivan Upper School in a game the Campbell College, Belfast team won by 48-24.
In Section A of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Shield, Ballyclare High School played Limavady Grammar School and won the game by 48-19.
In Section B of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Shield, Enniskillen Royal Grammar School played Portadown College in a game the Portadown College team won by 31-28.
Meanwhile, on the same afternoon, a number of 1stxv friendly games took place.
Ballyclare High School played Bangor Grammar School in a game the Ballyclare High School team won by 38-7.
The Ballyclare High School points came through tries from Daniel Jenkins, with two, Daniel Montgomery, William Shiels, Joshua Tweed and Adam White.
Jack Smith was successful with four of his conversion kicks.
The Bangor Grammar School team scored one try through Jack Reid which was converted by Bruce McClure.
Coleraine Grammar School travelled to Wanderers RFC in Dublin where they played St Andrew’s College, Dublin with both their 1stxv and 2ndxv teams.
The Coleraine Grammar School team won the entertaining and closely contested 1stxv game by 29-28.
The St Andrew’s College, Dublin team scored four tries through Jack Hanna, Charlie Clarke, Hugo Doyle and Oscar Dowdall.
Oscar added the extras to all four of the St Andrew’s College tries.
The Coleraine Grammar School points came through tries from Feidhlim Penfold, following good work from Joe Coates, Joel McCracken, Adam Moore, and Luke McMillen, who took full advantage of another moment of magic from Joe Coates.
Reuben Nicholl added three successful conversion kicks as well as one penalty goal.
The Coleraine Grammar School 2ndxv, on the back of a superb two try performance from impressive full back, Lewis Hawe, recorded a hard earned 52-24 victory against the St Andrew’s College, Dublin opposition.

Foyle and Londonderry College hosted Sligo Grammar School in a closely contested encounter the Foyle College team won eventually by 26-17.
John O’Connor, Cian O’Leary, with two and Niall Kelly were the home team try scorers to which Rory Curtis added three successful conversion kicks.
Timipeli Launoa, Sean Cashel and Sam Carniege ran in for the Sligo Grammar School tries with Sean O’Reilly adding one successful conversion kick.
On Friday 2nd October, Campbell College, Belfast played Regent House School at Belmont, home of CIYMS RFC.
The Campbell College, Belfast team won this game by 47-7.
Dylan Armstrong, with two, Charlie Clark, Will Stewart, Henry Brand, Harry Wells and Isaac Webster were the Campbell College, Belfast try scorers
Jack Best was successful with six of his conversion kicks.
Harry Spence ran in for the Regent House School try which was converted by Zach McMinn.

On Saturday 3rd October, a good range of 1stxv games took place.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Qualifier game, Antrim Grammar School played Grosvenor Grammar School in a game the Antrim Grammar School team won by 24-8.
The Antrim Grammar School team, on the back of a Man of the Match performance from Cameron Molyneaux, scored three tries through Jonah Woolley, Rio McKee and Ethan Lucas.
Issac Lynn added the extras to all three tries as well as kicking one penalty goal.
The Grosvenor Grammar School team scored one unconverted try through Zane Greenlees with one successful penalty goal from James Campbell.
The Antrim Grammar School team will now join the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage C teams which includes Ballyclare High School, Rainey Endowed School, Limavady Grammar School and Foyle and Londonderry College.
The Grosvenor Grammar School team will join Lurgan College, Strabane Academy and Bangor Academy in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Development League with games scheduled to be played on the same dates as the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage games.
Ballymena Academy entertained Royal Belfast Academical Institution in a hard-fought game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 21-0.
Cian McClean, Benjamin McCarten and Jack Coulter touched down for the Royal Belfast Academical Institution tries to which Jonnie Kennedy added all three successful conversion kicks.
Belfast High School played Lurgan College in a very committed game the Belfast High School team won by 42-10.
Hubert Jaszczak and Ethan Barclay each scored two tries for the Belfast High School team with Matthew McCabe and Reuben Glenn each touching down for one try.
Matthew was also deadly accurate off the tee with all six successful conversion kicks.
The Lurgan College team contributed a lot to the game and got some reward for their committed approach when Will Cunningham and Daniel Emerson each touched down for an unconverted try.
Dalriada School played Foyle and Londonderry College in a very closely contested game the Foyle College team won by 19-15.
Matthew Nicholl and Matthew McCamphill each scored one try for the Dalriada School team with Chris Finney adding one successful conversion kick as well as one successful penalty kick.
“Hero of the Day” for the Foyle College team was Tom O’Neill who ran in for a hattrick of tries with Rory Curtis adding two successful conversion kicks.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School played Banbridge Academy and won the game by 31-15.
Alfie Lucas, Ben Wallace, with two, Oliver Harte and Harry McKenzie ran in for the Enniskillen Royal Grammar School tries.
Harry Breen was successful with three of his conversion kicks.
Conor Commiskey, Seth Martin and the outstanding Sam Leslie each touched down for an unconverted try for the Banbridge Academy team.
Larne Grammar School hosted Friends’ School, Lisburn and won this close encounter by 19-17.
Man of the Match for the Larne Grammar School team, Rory Meldrum, touched down for two tries with Jamie Jones adding a third try.
Zak Duncan added the extras to two of the Larne Grammar School tries.
The Friends’ School, Lisburn team scored three tries as well in the course of the game.
Ben Garrett, Joel Irwin and Harry Mehaffey touched down for the tries to which John Hall added one successful conversion kick.
Omagh Academy played a Methodist College, Belfast “Senior Select” xv in a game the Omagh Academy team won by 40-26.
Josh Somerville, Lewis McIvor, with two, Ryan Mitchell, with two and Jamie Bradley were the Omagh Academy try scorers.
Sami Braden was successful with five of his conversion kicks.
The Methodist College, Belfast team points came through tries from Owen Chambers, Jack Donovan, Oliver Kennedy and Shay McGaffin.
Josh Spence was successful with three conversion kicks.
Rainey Endowed School played Portadown College in the Vinny Doyle Memorial Cup and won the high scoring encounter by 32-26.
Senan McNulty, with two, Isaac O’Kane, Rory McCrea and Zak Wilkinson scored the Rainey Endowed School tries with Christy McDonnell adding two successful conversion kicks as well as one penalty goal.
Charlie Rodgers, Daniel Rankin, Andrew Galloway and Caleb Ruddell ran in for the Portadown College tries with Charlie Rodgers adding three successful conversion kicks.
Vinny Doyle’s Mother and Father, his brother, Kieran and niece, Mollie, were in attendance at the game.
Mollie presented the Vinny Doyle Cup to William Hunter, the Rainey Endowed School team captain, at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Royal School, Armagh hosted Royal School, Dungannon and recorded a 17-0 victory.
Eric Thompson, Alex McAdam and Teddy Jennings were the Royal School, Armagh try scorers with Eric adding the extras to one of the Royal School, Armagh tries.
Sullivan Upper School played Belfast Royal Academy and recorded a 42-5 victory.
Lucas McKeown, with two, Harry McCartney, with two, Jake Lynch and Scott Henderson were the Sullivan Upper School try scorers.
Scott capped a fine personal performance with all six of his successful conversion kicks.
The Belfast Royal Academy team points came through an unconverted try from Rory Brooks.
