Coleraine RFC 3rds Claimed League Points &the Robinson Cup v Ballymoney 3rds, Report + Pictures LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coleraine Thirds claimed league points and the Robinson Cup after a hard fought match against Ballymoney 3s on Saturday.

The Cup is traditionally played for between the two clubs during the Christmas period. It has stayed at Ballymoney for two years but this week saw it return to Coleraine.

The game was played in cold wet conditions, both sides suffering from the wind chill. The main battle was in the pack and both sides put in forceful and athletic effort across the park.

The home side scored three points from a penalty in the first half, in the second Coleraine’s Cameron Jinks slotted home a penalty attempt for three points.

With about 15 minutes to go the Coleraine pack attacked the Ballymoney line and, despite a valiant defence, nothing was going to deny the visitors their try. The touch down was made by Mark Gillis and Jinks’ conversion dropped agonisingly just inches below the bar. The final score Ballymoney 3 – 8 Coleraine.
